"Surroundings is an issue"
The hotel itself is decent, we stayed in a family room for 2 nights which was really clean and very comfortable. Staff were ok, did the bare minimum. Breakfast was decent and similar to standards in other premier inns. The biggest problem I see for some travellers is the area outside. It is right in the middle of Birmingham around the corner from the bullring and the train station. In terms of that it is excellent. However as others have reviewed the amount of homeless, drug addicts and alcoholics outside the hotel is the worst I've seen in any city centre I've visited. Just returned to the hotel at 17.00 on a Sunday evening and there are 5 outside the doors blocking the entrance and 1 inside the doors in the lobby on the floor rolling up. The security shift hasn't started yet. These are people without shoes bleeding from cuts. They don't bother anyone and the police move them in the morning but the nature of the location is appealing as it is under a bit of a canopy next door to a McDonald's. Can't access the floors without a key card so it's secure but not a place to be with 11 and 9 yr olds. Wouldn't go back despite the hotel being perfectly good and in an otherwise central location
"Good value for money."
Hotel location is ideal for the city centre, but this comes with some negatives e.g. attracts a lot of homeless especially later at night. The hotel itself didn't particularly look appealing from the outside, however wasn't too bad once inside. Room was tidy/clean and we got a good night sleep. Seemed to be understaffed - kept waiting for bar service, to check-in and to be seated for breakfast. All things considered it was good value for money if you want a no frills bed for the night.
"Great location. Will use again"
Great city center location. Thought that due to the area it would be noisy but this wasn't the case. The rooms were clean and well presented. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast has a good selection of food. Would definitely choose to stay here again. Only little niggle is our family room had a shower instead of the usual bath and trying to shower a toddler was a nightmare, next time I'd try to request a room with a bath as I didn't realise all rooms didn't have them
"Excellent stay in central location - walking distance to everything"
Our stay at this hotel was excellent. The location is perfect for train travellers. It is right off of New Street, with lots of restaurants, cafes and shops. Easy walking distance to Gas Station Basin, Jewelry Quarter, Bullring, etc. Crowded, high-energy area, but safe and quiet inside the hotel. Our room was larger than expected and very clean and comfortable. Front desk staff were very helpful overall, though some seemed happier about it than others. Continental breakfast was good and presented in a very pleasant area. I would definitely stay here again.
"Tyrese customer service"
The location was really good the rooms were very comfortable and the customer service was amazing tyrese was very polite and helpful he made me and my friends feel so welcomed and had a great chat about what we was here for and made the overall experience phenomenal
