Stratford-upon-Avon Waterways hotel

Premier Inn is our usual choice of hotel when there is one available at our chosen location. The standard of cleanliness and service remains consistently good, although this particular hotel appeared to have a staff shortage problem. I had a query on checkout and had to queue at the restaurant seating area to find someone to resolve it. I should add that it was resolved very quickly.

Nothing but praise for this Premier Inn, well-placed, well-planned, we couldn’t have asked for better, and we weren’t even in the top-price rooms. Staff are well-trained, helpful and charming. Breakfast is good, fresh and plentiful. Parking is £7 a day but plentiful too. Room was clean, quiet and complete.

Very good accommodation in central Stratford. Room, shower, lifts, reception etc were clean and efficient. The room was quiet and the beds were comfortable. The worst (and VERY inconvenient) aspect was the parking. The web site tells you there is on site parking. There is - BUT… it is inadequate in capacity and arranged with the spaces in one long single line of single spaces stretching out away from the hotel entrance. If you’re older like me, have children or lots of luggage, it is far from convenient. The walk to the entrance from the furthest spaces is considerable. We arrived at 5 pm and there was one single space available - at the very far end of this long line . Phew! But then we went out for a celebratory meal (drove to the restaurant in Alcester - the reason we were staying in Stratford ) and guess what? You got it! When we returned at about 11pm there were no spaces! What to do? And having utilised one of the spaces for the initial hour on arrival we would be clocked as having used the full 24 hour parking quota. Absolutely hopeless provision of convenient parking- this should be pointed out on the website. There were a very limited number of blue badge parking spaces. What on earth you would do as a blue badge user in the (v probable) event of no space being available, I don’t know.

The best Premier Inn we have stayed in. Great location, clean, comfortable beds, friendly staff. Breakfast was well managed with fresh food brought out regularly. You can walk along the canal into town, it’s about a mile and a nice walk. There’s a lock at the side of the hotel which was great to watch the boats coming through while enjoying a drink.
