"Fantastic staff, shame about broken AC and windows screwed shut"
Booked 2 nights in a Premier Plus double room for a work trip (just me), was in the middle of the early July 2026 heatwave.
Checked in, got to my room, it was roasting hot. There was a small plug-in fan running in the corner, really just blowing very hot air around the room. Checked the air-con and it was flashing an error code. Went to open the window and it had been LITERALLY SCREWED SHUT with an L-plate and four screws so it couldn't be opened at all.
Sorry to shout but I was absolutely gobsmacked, what hotel chain in in their right mind shoddily screws shut their windows that clearly are meant to open? Apart from anything else surely it's a safety hazard? There are perfectly good ways of limiting how far a hotel window can open, as we'll see shortly in this very review.
Decided to ask for a different room. Went to reception and the lady there was very helpful and apologetic (thank you Emma!). Yes, all the Plus rooms in that section had no AC due to a fault which required an engineer. There weren't any more Plus rooms left but there was a standard twin available. We checked the temps: 30C in my current room, 21C in the standard twin. I'll take it! (but also, they can check the temperature of each individual room from the front desk office? Made me wonder what else they can check!)
Walking into the new room the difference in temp made me realise how unsafe it was to have knowingly checked me into a room with broken AC during a heatwave. What if someone much older had been subjected to 30C all night like that?
Also, I have to be honest, the difference between the Plus double room and the standard twin wasn't that big. The downgrade meant no coffee pod machine, no fridge, no iron, and I think maybe a slightly smaller TV? I could use my Ultimate Wifi codes, can't remember if they came with the Plus room or I'd added to my booking.
Another big benefit of the standard was THE WINDOW WASN'T SCREWED SHUT. It opened as a window should, and was installed with those strong cable limiters at either side to stop it opening too far (presumably so people don't fall out). Why they screwed the other window shut so their guests would feel like prisoners I have no idea.
Despite all this the staff I spoke with were absolutely brilliant. Emma moved my room and when I asked about ice to keep some water cool (as I wouldn't have the fridge) she dug up a huge breakfast juice jug from the kitchen and filled it to the brim with ice, which did the job. Also offered as many coffees as I wanted from the fancy machine in the bar (coz no coffee pod machine). And reminded me to take the complimentary bottled waters, chocs, and any fancy tea bags from the Plus room too.
Her colleague was great too, don't know her name but when the three of us got chatting after fetching me some ice I watched her dismantle, fix, and re-assemble one of those portable fans that I found in my Plus room, and she always waved hello when she saw me around the place over the next couple of days.
So overall, great staff, not such a great first room though. Won't put me off sticking with Premier Inn for similar trips, they're a decent budget brand and I do find them that bit better all round than the competition (Travel Lodge!)

"Not a good experience in this hotel"
I never expected such a bad service, not even a smile to greet us when we arrived. We had asked for a room with a shower, not a bath tub, and the receptionist was not happy when we asked her again for that kind of room . The day we arrived, there was ice water in the reception because the weather was very hot, but the following day, as the temperature had dropped, the water disappeared. It was very difficult to get some fresh water . We had problems with the air-conditioning. They have the temperature set at 19°, Was impossible to regulate from the control in the room . I tried to call the hotel at three in the morning, nobody answered, so I had to go downstairs to complain and fix the issue. The bath towel was absolutely worn out and full of holes. There is a lift that you have to operate manually, and the button to go down is covered with tape, nobody knows why. Absolutely not a good experience.

"Great place, great service"
Really helpful and approachable staff. We upgraded our stay to an extra day and staff were able to keep us in the same room. We had a small technical problem with the tv and staff were immediate in fixing it. 10/10, not our first time here, won’t be the last either.
