"Great stay and staff"
I like a premier inn but this was a great one! Rooms were lovely, clean and quiet and there was plenty of parking. Breakfast was lovely and Sharon couldn’t do enough to help; she even brought me a freshly fried egg when there were none left. Highly recommended!
"Simply fantastic service! Very homely!"
The hotel is like many Premier Inn hotels or similar branded hotels. However, one thing that makes it stand out from the rest … is the exemplary service received from the attentive and welcoming staff . We travel often with our family and typically need to stay in similar hotels around 20 times a year. We’ve never had better service than here at Washington. At breakfast time, we were welcomed in and served by such lovely people. The lady and gentleman running the restaurant and cooking the breakfast were so pleasant and genuinely very impressive. Yes the rooms are nice, clean and modern but the breakfast experience turned our rather simple and quick stay into a really positive experience that we just don’t seem to get nowadays. They clearly live their job and it was almost as though it was their hotel, their restaurant and not just a branded hotel. We would definitely stay again without question… our whole family were in total agreement that this is the best Premier Inn they’ve ever stayed in (and they have been to many).
"Easy access- Fantastic Staff"
Easy access location, GREAT staff. Chosen primarily for access from our homes and to the points we wished to visit. This premier inn would benefit from more disabled access rooms ( reducing by 50% was a step backwards). The rooms were well enough equipped, but perhaps at least one bed would benefit from replacing. I really don't expect to feel mattress buttons. The stand-out point was the charm and efficiency of our evening manager/receptionist. Nothing was too much effort, and any request had a solution ( except changing to another accessible room). Great customer service and an absolute asset to this hotel. She made our two night stay (Sunday and Monday) as easy as possible. Because of her, I would consider staying again, although the B & B rate could compare better with other operators.
"Amazing staff & service, could not fault."
Just spent 2 nights here and could not have been any better. All staff very friendly and efficient, reception, breakfast and chef . Room was spotless and wi-fi good throughout the building. Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choices. 5 star review for a 5 star service.
"Welcoming, convenient and clean"
Came up for the Women’s World Cup Rugby 2025 opening match. We found this hotel to be welcoming, terrific ladies on reception, clean and delighted that our twin room was actually a twin (rather than a double bed and sofa bed as in some PI) with a walk in shower (great as this is needed for ambulatory disabled person). There is a good network of roads nearby so easy access to a number of places to visit. Close to Sunderland, Durham and Newcastle. It is not far from the coast, Northumberland National Park, North Pennines, North Yorkshire Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There are plenty of National Trust sites to visit. This is a good hotel as a jumping off point to Scotland or Cumbria (the A69 is very scenic with several lovely villages along the way or the A66 or A684 are also quite scenic). We spent two nights here and would certainly return if we are back up in that area.
