"Flies and bird pooh everywhere!"
Pretty gross experience to be honest. In Newcastle for the weekend of the Great North 10k and I thought the location of the hotel would be handy to get to the start point in the morning. This one is near the quay and because of that there are lots of seagulls which make a horrendous squawking noise all through the day and night. The entire outside of the building is covered in bird poo and scaffolding so not the best first impression. However, there was worse inside. When I enteted my room on the 4th floor there were about 40 flies flying and circling in the centre of the room. It was a hot day and due to no air conditioning the tiny window had been left open to allow air which also allowed entry to the fly swarm no doubt attracted by the bird poo outside! The friendly reception staff were happy to move me to a new room on the 2nd floor but as this was facing the front of the hotel it was extremely loud due to the music coming from the late night bar opposite. We were left with the choice of stiflingly hot room with windows shut and no air conditioning or open windows, flies and loud thumping music. After a poor nights sleep breakfast was not really much better. A decent choice and the possibility of eggs cooked to order but £10.99 for 2 poached eggs and a slice of toast and £7.99 for a bowl of cereal for my son did not represent good value for money. If you want to stuff yourself it may be worth the money but not for a light breakfast before a run. Add to that yet more thumping music from Capital FM on full blast and it wasn't the best start to the day. A memorable stay for all the wrong reasons and sadly one I won't be repeating.

"Really shame as staff are good but seagulls keep you awake ALL night"
We said here for a gig at the park and while the hotel location and staff are brilliant unfortunately we didn’t sleep one wink due to the seagulls nesting right outside our window… the room was very dirty too tbh I don’t like to moan but be careful before booking as you won’t get sleep if your on the same side as us…

"It wasn’t the best stay."
So we don’t mind a PMi but this one isn’t great.
There is an obvious lack of staff from reception to the bar. The wait in the latter on one day was appalling, he’s still waiting after fifteen minutes and has now gone to reception to ask them if there are any staff serving.
Our room was compact to say the least but it did what it said on the can, as they say, but you couldn’t walk past the end of the bed without hitting the tv.
Breakfast was just not good any day. The Buffett food is left uncovered and there are no hot plates, how can the food be hot or at least warm when served like this and it’s not worth £10:99 pp.
Happy Hour 5:00pm until 9:00pm but not all drinks so really better going to Wethers about five minutes away overlooking the river with a great atmosphere and two outside areas..
Wouldn’t recommend it at all it’s cheap but not cheerful, sorry but a big no from us.

"Great place on the river"
Great place with modern rooms. Right on the river. The parking garage onsite is a bonus. I wasn't prepared for the car park fatigue and fees when I set out on my journey. Walking a mile to a hotel from a car park is not fun. Parking right below the hotel is definitely a treat! The folks at check in were all so kind and helpful too.
