Newcastle (Holystone) hotel

Pleasant, clean rooms, comfy beds The only thing lacking was drawers or shelves for clothes which meant I had to live out of my suitcase which is not ideal. However this hotel had the benefit of EXCEPTIONAL STAFF. I am a wheelchair user and also deaf (unable to hear a fire alarm without my hearing aids) Unfortunately their under pillow alarm wasn’t working but was reassured by the staff that my need for assistance and informing of an incident in person would be provided should there be an incident. I’m glad to say WAS not necessary. It was not possible for me to manage the fire door springs unaided if I had a bag with me. Although they told me just to press the alarm cord, I was not happy to do that when it was for assistance not an emergency so they gave me the phone number of reception so I could ring on my mobile. Help was always given without me feeling I was being a nuisance they really were always happy to help. I was part of a group of 35 family members in the area for a weekend celebration, but the house used has a lot of stairs to the bedrooms so I preferred to stay in an adapted room and join them by taxi I’d been advised by travel assistance that although there was a nearer station (Morpeth) But that this would be the better option as wheelchair taxis at the station where more numerous. I needed to use my wheelchair to reach reception, but didn’t need it at the families location this presented no problem I was allowed to leave my wheelchair in reception and just use a standard taxi Having organised a wheelchair taxi to pick me up in plenty of time to reach the station in time to report to the assistance staff. … IT DIDNT ARRIVE. The staff immediately set too phoning round for a wheelchair taxi on the hotel phone whilst I did so on my Mobile. Throughout my stay CATHERINE, PAULINE. BEN and SHARON where golden I cannot thank you enough for making my stay pleasant and well supported. I hope Premier inn appreciate their staff and I commend them. The other thing I particularly liked with this Premier Inn is their support of GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital. They sold canned drinks and snacks in reception with the money going directly to GOSH, they also sold cute bears so I bought one to show my youngest great nephews and nieces and ask if they’d like one to remember the weekend. I returned to the hotel and asked for a quantity that they didn’t have in reception! Catherine immediately sent Ben on a BEAR HUNT! which I’m pleased to say was successful! It just remains for me to say once more Thank you to a team who went over and above for a grateful guest.

We stayed here for our 21st Wedding anniversary, the location was perfect, the atmosphere was great, all staff so friendly, nothing was too much for them, we were treated so well, especially when we went for breakfast the lady that treated us was so friendly and nice, made me feel so welcome, I asked for a well done egg and it was no trouble. Both days were amazing, slept really well,bed was so comfortable, definitely will stay there again, those staff we met deserve a medal for outstanding customer service, very pleased with our stay. Well done Premier Inn.

Great place to stay. Excellent value for money. You do not need to stay at Whitley Bay PI. Stay here instead. Wetherspoons can be variable but the one next door is a good one

Tyler, Amanda, Mark and all the team always make you feel welcome and looked after. Nothing is a problem to them. I prefer to stay with them than a 5* hotel because they simply are the best
