"So disappointed with Premier Inn. "
I have stayed at many Premier Inns and all have been up to a great standard, until this one! Yes it was cheaper than the city centre 😔 me but I put this down to the location as it's out of the way on the Quayside. But the real reason is probably more so because of its condition. I was allocated room 102 which had a random corridor in it down to the bathroom and it felt unsafe and there was dirt behind the very tatty side table, so I asked to be moved which was helpful! I moved to room 109 which frankly wasn't much better and faced the road next to the bridge. The noise of the kittiwakes was horrific! No sleep! They go 24hrs, the window sill was covered in bird mess and the windows despite having extra glazing, did nothing. One of the windows had a latch to keep it open which was a nightmare to open/close with just one person and the window heavy. The breakfast wasn't great either, again not up to standard. Overall, I'm so disappointed, felt very unsafe and just didn't want to stay there. It terribly needs a refurbishment to the rooms as it's not like any other location I've stayed at.
      "In need of upgrade"
This hotel is more than ready for an upgrade, although very convenient visiting both sides of the river otherwise conveniently situated
      "A Relaxing Break."
Do not let the entrance to the hotel put you off.Once inside you will get a warm welcome. The rooms are spacious & cosy.Obviously the hotel is ageing but the staff & the facilities make up for that. You have the quayside to your left & a nice walk it is. The city centre is not too far away. Newcastle has a lot to offer the visitor. You must visit Chinatown. The lady who runs the restaurant is a star, her name is Kara. She will look after you.The breakfast has a wide variety & if you fancy something not on display, just ask. We had a great stay.
      "Unbearably noisy"
This is not a good Premier Inn. The rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment and the chairs in the bar are tatty and threadbare. By far the worst issue is the racket from the seagulls nesting on the opposite buildings. To be fair Premier Inn has put nets up on their building but other properties haven't. The noise is ridiculous. There is no double glazing or air conditioning so a double whammy too hot and seagull noise. Even with the windows shut it's still terribly loud. Definitely wouldn't stay here again.
"Not the best premier inn but ok"
We had 2 nights here whilst Sam Fender was in town and my first impressions weren't brilliant. The shared areas are grubby and tired, the lift didn't inspire confidence and seats in the bar area are past the end of their useful life. Our fault but we hadn't realised we were next to a kittiwake colony on the Tyne Bridge! Hence the windows were covered in bird poo. The room did not look and feel like a usual premier inn room, tiles were cracked, the bath was mouldy and the cupboards would not have looked out of place in a 1970s caravan! That said our room was much larger than usual, carpets were clean, we slept well as the hotel felt very quiet, beds were comfy, there was plenty of hot water and staff were friendly. So in summary it most definitely needs some tlc and a face-lift to bring it upto the expected standard but it's a good location and it provided an acceptable base for a reasonable price compared with other options. As always you get what you pay for!
