"Very uncomfortable stay"
room cold on arrival, very noisy extractor fan, poorly made, uncomfortable bed (bottom sheet too small so not tucked in well & duvet cover too big for duvet so both bunched up around my arms, legs & feet) so I hardly slept all night. Downloaded gluten free dinner menu prior to arrival & planned to order TexMex burger; menu states "all our burgers are served in a non-gluten-containing bun" only to be told gluten free buns were not available so I ordered 7oz Chargrilled Gammon Steak; menu states "with skin on chips" however chips were skin off, horrible, thin, overcooked chips. Later in the evening I tried to purchase a large bottle of water from reception and was told I could not pay by card but I had no cash at which point staff directed me to the vending machine which was out of water, what a joke! I paid over £200 for one night, zero value for money, uncomfortable bed, hardly slept, below average food, poor staff attitude, not acceptable!
"Worst Premier Inn I've ever stayed in"
Worst premier inn I've ever stayed in, had to book 2 nights separately as wasn't available on website then Friday night became available (after already booking Saturday an hour before) so had a room for people with easy access requirements as it was only one available (room 2) IT stank! A very strong mouldy, musky, damp smell and the sink in the bathroom smelled too, was so bad I had to get fabreeze from my car just so we could make our time in the roo bearable as windows do not open and air con doesn't help! Bed sloped at the end on 1 side and pillows were flat, had to check out at 12pm then check back in at 3pm as was told 'there was nothing they can do' and when I came 20 mins early was told nothing they can do and have to wait until 3pm, the woman did however change the room we originally had booked (another room for people with disabilities/needing easy access as again was only room available) to a standard double which I was very grateful for, maybe its the pessimist in me but I don't think I would've got that done for me of I had not said I'd already checked on the website that there are standard doubles available now, anyway came back at 3pm and was checked in by Noel, very pleasant and helpful, got to our room and there is furry mould on the ceiling in the bathroom, bed was a lot more comfortable and no smell but the mould issue needs addressing, such a shame because it's so ideally located and Premier Inn has always been my go to hotel choice but now I will be looking at other choices of hotel 1st when visiting Bury St Edmunds (come a lot as have family there) am just grateful I didn't have my children with me, will definitely not return to this hotel, should have booked the A14 as have been there before and was great
"get what you pay for"
hotel was ok and staff very good, choice of food not so good. obviously a copy of the Travelodge ideas bathroom exactly the same as Travelodge hotels and dining area/bar same layout, like being in a school canteen
"Julie gave a very warm welcome and was very helpful"
When we arrived there was plenty of parking and we received a very warm welcome from Julie on reception. She was very attentive, talked to both of our children and helped us with our parking.
"Excellent, slightly different, quiet, comfortable and convenient."
This Premier Inn is excellent and a bit different to the normal establishments. It is located in a very quiet and nice part of town, just a short walk from the main attractions. The building and layout is just slightly different, and gives the feel of a more up-market establishment. As a fairly regular customer of Premier Inns, this hotel was a pleasant surprise and provided a comfortable, enjoyable and very convenient stay. I highly recommend it.
