Uttoxeter hotel

If you have a problem with your room good luck with trying to speak to you. I visited reception on 3 separate occasions only to find nobody there. Pressed the buzzer multiple times but nobody came. We stayed in a ‘New room’ which didn’t have working air conditioning. Beds were uncomfortable, cheap and definitely not ‘New’ You couldn’t pay me to stay here again.

I stayed here for the Download weekend and it's a nice little truck stop off the beaten track and it's a convenient location in the proximity of both Download and Alton Towers. The restaurant is a bit small so you have to book a reservation for breakfast and dinner but with the amount of other options around and about, it's more than made up for. Love Uttoxeter and it will see me again.

Whilst the room and bed were very comfortable and reasonably priced, the changes made to the restaurant are appalling. The rebranding of the restaurant to "The Social" from the original Table Table has resulted in a noticeably inferior experience. The restaurant itself has been reduced to around a quarter of its original size, and both the food and drinks menus have been significantly scaled back. The service was poor throughout, and the atmosphere felt more suited to families with young children than adult diners. We had booked a table for two at 7:00 pm and arrived at 6:30 pm, only to be told that our table was not yet ready and invited to wait at the bar. During this time, we noticed a table for two that had been cleaned and set, but assumed it was reserved for guests who had not yet arrived. When 7:00 pm came and went, I asked again about our table at 7:10 pm, only to be seated at the very same table that had been vacant since we arrived. After being seated, we waited a further 20 minutes before I had to actively seek out a waitress to take our order. The food was adequate, but certainly not worth the price charged. I asked if they served draught Guinness and they said they did. When I went to the bar, the Guinness came out of a can. This was our fifth stay at this Premier Inn, and we have returned repeatedly because the rooms and restaurant have always been competitively priced, comfortable, and backed by good service. Unfortunately, the decline in the restaurant's quality and service has been so significant that we will not be staying here again.

Not the cleanest room, toilet hadn’t been flushed on arrival and it smelt of cigarette smoke which I think was as staff and people were smoking outside and the window had been left open. Food was nice but the restaurant was so cold it spoilt the meal A bit. Restaurant Staff were nice but not the quickest. Definitely not the best Premier inn we ever stayed in.

Had a premier plus room and couldn’t fault it. Clean, plenty of USB/plug sockets, bed & pillows great, nice shower, air con worked, could open window for fresh air, handy fridge & a kettle as well as decent coffee machine. Didn’t get food here but great location having Starbucks, Greggs, BK & Subway a few steps away with McDonalds a couple of minutes in the car. Car park free and plenty of spaces at the time we stayed. Be warned there’s no lift which is annoying with suitcases. We were in the main building so not sure what the other one across the car park is like. Would for sure stay again if I was in the area
