"Shambolic Hotel"
My colleague and I had the misfortune of staying at this Premier Inn for 8 nights with one night remaining. During our stay the staff have been brilliant and are a credit to their undeserving employer's, the issue we constantly faced is the under staffed and stocked restaurant ( The Social ). The menu was restricted on most nights by very limited availability and the number of staff working in the restaurant. On five occasions the restaurant was closed entirely to us, twice on a night and on three mornings because they didn't open until 07:30 which was the time we had to leave. The excuses have ranged from the card machine not working so you had have an account or on a meal deal, the oven door been broken, no chips, and the chef had left and the only remaining chef was on his day off. The hotel needs to decide if they actually want to continue with the restaurant service or close it permanently because if the don't do something to address this the hotel itself will lose business totally, its a shame because the staff are brilliant and trying their utmost to work but are let down by horrendous management of the hotel.

"Terrible Stay - Feel sorry for the few staff who are clearly doing their best with no support"
Firstly, I would like to say that this is no reflection on the Staff - as few of them as there are! The Business Model of Premier Inn is now to service the same amount of guests with as few staff as possible and to expect them to deliver the same service - an impossible task. The Uttoxeter site is split across two buildings - a car park apart. The poor receptionist has to be in both buildings at once and is constantly having to deal with complaints about the wait for someone to attend reception when it really isnt her fault!!
Anyway - back to the other complaints! We were a Business party of 11 - with 8 rooms between us. We arrived on the Friday Night to be told that only Pizza was available on the menu! Pretty poor, however, the bar attendant was incredibly attentive and friendly (again, no complaints about the staff doing the best they can)
6 of he 8 rooms had no air conditioning working. It got fixed for a period and then broke again in some rooms, but for my own room, it only worked on the final night of our 3 night stay when the General Manager did “something”
Our Premier Plus room did not have the chocolates (small niggle I know, but, I am in the middle of a complaint so it all counts) and no water in the fridge. I had to request a new wifi code every day - not sure why they cant give a code that lasts more than 24 hours.
On the second night, we returned after work at 2000 and was told that the bar was closed! 20:00. 8:00pm!!! After a busy day at work.
Now breakfast!!!
Morning 1. We didnt book, but no problems,
Morning 2. Ww booked, but when we got there they had no record of our booking. They “Squeezed” us in anyway.
Morning 3. Despite having around 6 empty tables, we were turned away.
It wasnt even that cheap or budget at £150 per night per room!!!!!!
I used to swear by Premier Inn, but their business model has changed to something unrecognisable and they appear to want to just pay minimum wage to as few staff as possible!

"Excellent"
Charlene, was very welcoming and helpful , when our company messed us about Charlene went above and beyond to help , got us booked in early , and all the other staff we met during our stay was lovely . Rooms very clean , will defo stay again when in the area

"I like cheese"
There was a power cut twice a day and the toilet smelled damp. But every time the door opened automatically I pretended I was using the force to open it. The staff were very nice and that is peak hotel experience.

"2 night Alton Towers break"
First of all, as Premier inn rooms go, you know what your getting, clean, comfortable and good for a 1/2 nighters.
Now as for The Social Pub/restaurant goes, if your advertising breakfast/dinner packages you need to get this right, it's a disaster from the booking process right through to the end. Kitchen staff (only1) can't keep up with demand and waiter staff (only 2) cant clear up/serve and relenish quick enough, It's as if you've given up cos there's a Greg's and Burger King next door! PLEASE get more staff to manage to cope with what your offering or write it off completely. It let's this place down massively.
