Avoid at all costs!!!!! Between them and the pub next door, hands down the worst premier inn we’ve ever stayed in. Reception staff are absolutely awful. So rude! Never again.

"Overall good stay at this very nice hotel"

I was allocated a very nice standard double room on the first floor, room 140. It was spacious, comfortable bed, quiet and very powerful and hot shower. I have read some reviews complaining about the shower, but not in my case. It could have done with a cupboard or draw for clothes (just a hanger for trousers etc), and I found it strange as there is room. So for 4 nights I made do with mainly living out of a suitcase. Also, the window doesn't open very wide, and I stayed during the continuous heatwave. No aircon with this room type, but there is a fan. Breakfast is held in the Beefeater next door, and it's very good and tasty. Good choice with full English, bread, pastries, hot and cold drinks and fruit. Finally, the hotel reception staff were great, especially Jenny. She was very friendly, helpful and had some good recommendations for places to eat, if not in the Beefeater. I enjoyed our chats. Also, Laura, Suzanna and Paige were really nice. The hotel is around 5 minutes walk to the castle grounds (along a quite picturesque bridge), and no more than 10 to the centre. Very convenient. If I returned to Tamworth, I'd stay here again. Stayed 16/7-20/7.

"Uninhabitable rooms in hot weather"

With windows that barely open & no air con, £70 is way too expensive for a room that was practically uninhabitable. The advertising was not clear enough, only the premium plus rooms have air con. It remained at 35 degrees in the room overnight, totally unbearable. We went downstairs in the middle of the night & guests were leaving. Make your advertising clearer & don’t charge huge rates for rooms that cannot get air in extreme weather conditions. A waste of money & told tough luck when we wrote to complain
