normally my experiences of Premier inn have been positive, however the same cannot be said of this visit. a last minute booking as a stop off point travelling home to break up the journey, we arrived just after midnight, checked in with reception and off to bed, disappointed with the level of cleanliness as not up to standard of previous visits to premier inn. floor did not appear to have been hoovered, behind the toilet wasn't clean and generally in poor condition, the bedside table was barely held together. have written this off as a one of lapse in premier inns normal service. w

I stayed in Spitfire, Stafford North. The reception staff were lovely and helpful. Checking in was great. As I walked to my room, in the back ends of the hotel…down a long long corridor, I passed a lot of mess on the floor outside the staff cupboard. That was the first thing that made me think ‘I wonder if they got down here to clean up?’ The room looked great when I first walked in but it had an unpleasant odour and I was really upset by the amount of dust on everything. I came straight out (after weeing) and went to the front desk to report this. The coffee/tea machine was dirty. The glasses and spoons were dusty. The fridge was dusty. The lamp was dusty. Even the remote control was dusty! The toilet did not flush which was really uncomfortable. The constant water sound from the bowl was not easy to hear all night…even with the door closed and the lid down… and I’m just glad I didn’t need to seriously ‘toilet’ (you know what I mean) or I definitely wouldn’t have coped. Plus it was as if the toilet had been used JUST before I arrived because one of the loo rolls was not folded at all and presented as nicely as they usually are at premier inn. It just felt as though those rooms were not in use (except for the toilet) or used so rarely that they weren’t cleaned or visited. I’m really sensitive so with all that dust I was so concerned I’d be bitten by dust mites. I had to request it be cleaned again (which to their credit they said they would do once I left out for my evening but I couldn’t wait another 45 minutes in there) and waited in my car until it was done. No other rooms were available (yes I enquired) so had to stay put. The second time I asked for it to be cleaned the staff got on it straight away…the obvious areas were done (fridge, coffee machine, toilet roll was presented properly) but the glasses and spoons were still dusty. I took photos and videos (can’t upload the video of the toilet but I have it)

This particular venue was chosen as it was close to the Isabel Trail parkrun. It was easy to get to from the motorway and there was plenty of parking available. Upon checking in, there was a computer screen where you could register your car, enabling you to park for free. We then tried to use the self check-in screen, but it could not connect to the network, so we had to ring the buzzer for a member of staff to manually check us in. We were given room 115, which was on the 1st floor. A lift was available, but we both preferred to use the stairs. The room was ready for us, but the bathroom was the problem area: 1) the toilet seat was too small for the toilet. 2) there was a distinct lack of toilet paper, which was not even in the holder. 3) the toilet did not flush very effectively, possibly through a lack of pressure? 4) despite two adults checking in, there was only 1 bath towel. My friend went back to reception to get more towels but was only given more hand towels! Good job I brought my own! The single bed was nearest the window, which was left open during the night. This created a lovely temperature overnight. Beds were comfortable, which is usually the case at Premier Inn. Overall, this was supposed to be a place to sleep after our 2.5hr journey from North Yorkshire, but I would have expected the basics to be there.

Very poor, dirty room, our floors weren’t cleaned. We found dirty sheets under the bed, socks behind the sofa along with some rubbish. The ventilation in the toilet wasn’t working leading to a very unpleasant room when we had showers as there was nowhere for the heat and humidity to go. There was also mould in the bathroom because of this. By far the worst premier inn we’ve ever stayed in
