"PREMIER INN AT NEWCASTLE UNDER LYME"
Saturday 4 October 2025, After visiting Victoria Mill Antiques Centre in Congleton, My husband and I drove to Chesterton in Newcastle Under Lyme to go to a Premier Inn where we are staying overnight.
The Premier Inn was set on an industrial estate with ‘The Redwood’ a Brewers Fayre restaurant attached to it. We parked our car and entered within and we given a very nice welcome by the receptionist.
We were given a very nice large comfortable bedroom (Room No: 5), with a very comfortable bed and pristine clean bathroom, but with only one bath towel and one hand towel for two people, and lots of hot water. My husband and I unpacked our things and had a cup of coffee and tea and relaxed before my husband showered and then we went for our included evening meal.
At 7.00pm we strolled into ‘The Redwood’, a Brewers Fayre Restaurant. Our table had been pre-booked and the waitress took us to our table and explained how ‘The Dinner & Breakfast Deal’ worked. My husband and I looked at the menu and then went to the bar to order our food and drinks.
My husband for his main meal had gammon with egg and pineapple served with tomato, peas and chips, which he said was very nice. I had crunchy king prawns in a sweet and sour sauce and served with rice, which was very nice. We washed all this food down with two pints of Guinness for My husband and a Strawberry & Lime ‘Rekorderlig’ cider for me.
We both had desserts; My husband had the ‘Apple Betty’ served with thick creamy custard. I had a cinnamon bun and caramel ice cream sundae, which was very scrummy. We spent two hours in the restaurant.
We would have liked to say that this was a pleasant experience, but it was not as there were loads of badly behaved brats of children running around the restaurant and no one as doing anything about it, it was a health and safety hazard as waitress were walking about with hot food and there was no adults only dining area.
As soon as we could we left and went back to our lovely quite room, where we both had a tea and coffee and then we snuggled up in our really comfortable bed and had a good night’s sleep.
Sunday 5th October 2025, My husband and I awoke to a better day than Saturday. I had a nice hot shower and then we both a tea and coffee in bed, which was a nice change. Later we dressed and at 9.00 am, went back to ‘The Redwood’, a Brewers Fayre restaurant for breakfast.
The breakfast fare was buffet style. Unfortunately, they ran out of things quickly and the food served was barely luke warm.
My husband and I were shown to a table in the window, which was nice as the sunshine was warm. My husband had a full English breakfast followed by croissants and butter and a pot of tea. I had fruit and yoghurt followed by a full English breakfast and a chocolate du pain and a decaffeinated coffee
Once again, it was not a pleasant experience with loads of badly behaved brats and screaming babies. My husband and I did not linger here long but went back to our quite room for another cup of tea and coffee. We then packed our case and checked out of the Premier Inn leaving our key cards in the box on reception as no one was manning the reception on our departure.

"Great value with helpful staff. Reasonably close to Alton Towers"
Great value and comfortable mattress as always with premier inn. Reception was helpful. Breakfast was provided by a connected Brewers Fayre and the same as always and good value with children.
Easy drive to Alton towers (about 40 mins on a Sunday morning with no traffic but windy country roads)
For some reason WiFi was the worst we've had in any premier inn but mobile data reception was good. We came on a particularly warm evening and there was no air con but there was a desk fan. Make sure to type in your license plate correctly at reception as it's anpr controlled parking. Nothing walkable to nearby if you're hoping to go out for a stroll and a drink/ bite to eat. A few fast food places within 5 mins drive and Deliveroo/ Uber can deliver plus the Brewers Fayre next door if you fancy it.
Overall I'd strongly recommend for a comfortable, clean, quiet and cheap stay for Alton towers.
