"Should be renamed to "The Builders Rest""
This was a stay to visit family in the area, I was with my elderly parents both in their mid-eighties. We were told there was some building work going on which was OK with us. When we arrived the whole building was covered in scaffolding. We parked our car and as we approached the steps to go up into the hotel there was a group of workmen, workmen not working on the building but staying at the hotel. They were huddled around the bottom of the stairs, some sitting on the stairs all smoking and spitting on the floor, this was our first experience, after getting both my parent up the stairs with some difficulty we were challenged with the self check-in. After we managed to work through that we went up in the lift to the first floor, The lift actually scared my mother because when it arrived at the first floor with us onboard, the lift stopped and then dropped about 5 inches unexpectedly, when the doors opened we couldn't get out quick enough, stepping up ion to the floor as there was large step where the lift had dropped. On showing my parents to there room, all I can say is very basic, it was a twin room and looked very tired, the decor was old and without a doubt this place needs a referb. The room I was staying in was just across the corridor and again very, very basic double room, tired looking, drab and in need of some TLC.
We had arranged for some family to come to the hotel to eat with us as the hotel had said they had a restaurant in house since the Brewers that had been next door had closed down.
Restaurant is a very loose term i would use as it was more like a canteen, the food, although was hot was nothing to shout about, the bar was very restricted on what beers they had, we all wanted Guinness, but there was none, they had run out !!!
Breakfast is self-service, Bacon eggs all the trimmings of a possible full English, My father & mother served themselves Eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, black pudding and baked beans. It was all cold to the point my mother wouldn't eat hers and my father took his back to guy standing behind where the food was and asked him to microwave his plate of food so it was at least warm. This provoked the man to get his thermometer out and start sticking it in everything to test for temperature.
As I went to dig into my "Cooked" breakfast, again stone-cold !!! So I went and did some toast, grabbed some chocolate Croissants and blueberry muffins, butter and jam.
When the lady came to clear our table, very abrupt woman, didn't ask if everything OK, but I felt the need to tell her that the food was all cold, she seemed surprised but not 10 minutes before we heard her having a conversation with the guy behind the food whose job I guess was to keep the supply going as guests arrived. It was one of those experiences you couldn't wait to end.
If you are thinking of staying here I would give it a miss, this in its current form is a 1 star at best. If you like mingling amongst builders all in there dirty attire, foul language and an attitude where they think It's OK to hock up and spit on the floor then this would be for you.

"Would stay again but don't like self check in"
Outside looked run down but inside was fine, rooms were clean and beds were comfortable along with very comfortable bedding, my only issue was self check in service, after a long journey and arriving after tea time feeling exhausted! It would have been nice to be welcomed by a member off staff whom did the check in for us

"Consistently Great service..."
From check-in to the comfortable bed and pillows to a fabulous breakfast and very friendly staff throughout our three day visit. Once the new extension and additional rooms have been completed, this will be a great hotel for Burton on Trent. Bus route 12 into town only 5 minutes walk across Morrisons car park. Very useful to have a large supermarket just across the road also,

"They made our little boys dream come true!"
What an amazing team at Premier Inn Burton!
I reached out on Facebook to see if anyone knew somebody who worked at a Premier Inn, as our son is absolutely obsessed with them. Someone tagged Stacie from the Burton branch, and she was incredibly kind and thoughtful enough to arrange for us to collect some goodies for him.
We went for breakfast the next morning, and the ladies working then were just as lovely and kind, and the breakfast was fab too!!
Thank you so much to everyone at Premier Inn Burton for putting a huge smile on our little boys fae. We are beyond grateful !! xxx
