Doncaster (Lakeside) hotel

The room was great it was an upgraded room Parking was free Breakfast was a different story. On arrival being asked if we had booked a table, this was odd as we had booked it via the website and part of the deal. Staff member was not polite we were told to go and sit on the bar area and help selves to cutlery etc. the other tables were for booked tables. Nothing on line or on my email confirmation to suggest this. Waitress did not care or want to know. The tables were dirty in the bar area that needed cleaning. Also lots of empty tables with cutlery but told we couldn’t sit there. Breakfast wasn’t hot quite cold and greasy. Long queue for hot drinks Good was dry.

Came here with family and never rated it much. few reasons. 1. All the hotel rooms were in different blocks. Not great as you have no clue which one your in and with less mobile people, it’s good to know. The challenge was the fact this is place was undergoing some works on the grounds which made the place a grubby mess. We were ground floor and the ceilings were so creaky we could only hear the people upstairs banging around all night. The lady on the front desk was really lovely though which is why we scored it 3 (that interaction raised the score)

Excellent hotel. Very clean and amazingly comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location within minutes of Doncaster town centre. Room was also sound proof. Loud pub next door but couldn’t hear anything once inside the room. Great view of church from our window. A really enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend. Only down point was parking. Car park literally next to hotel but need to constantly pay for it. The cost is low but you have to set alarm for 8am each morning in order to extend parking time. And then remind yourself to do the same thing at 6pm. However, this is a minor inconvenience compared to the positives of this premier inn.

Our experience at this hotel was very disappointing. The rooms and hallways had a strong damp smell. The first room we were shown had blood stains on the bed, damp bedding, mould on bathroom units, a chipped and damaged bathroom mirror, a lampshade with a large brown stain, and heavy grease stains on the headboards. We checked three separate rooms before being moved to a new annexe. Staff initially tried to charge extra for this room, claiming it would be clean, which was frustrating—especially as I didn’t realize a “premium” room meant only those rooms would meet basic cleanliness standards, while standard rooms could be in such poor condition. We didn’t arrive until 10:30 PM, after travelling from London, and this was meant to be a stopover with my 7-year-old. It took until 11:45 PM to find a room that was clean enough to sleep in—without a strong damp smell, dirty bedding, or stained headboards. Staff checked three rooms with me and agreed all were well below standard and that they wouldn’t stay in them themselves. We were then advised to pay extra for a premium room to guarantee cleanliness or to switch hotels at 11:30 PM, with my child absolutely exhausted and tearful. Eventually, the hotel upgraded us without any additional charge. The new room was acceptable and certainly better, but nothing remarkable. Unfortunately, the guests above started stomping around at 1:30 AM. Being in a separate building from reception, I couldn’t contact staff to address the issue. The beds were not particularly comfortable. Breakfast was pleasant in taste, but staff began clearing away before we finished, despite being told breakfast was available until 10:45 AM. The restaurant area was run-down and not very clean. Overall, this was a poor experience, though customer relations refunded 100% when I called the following morning at 9 AM.

Friendly, efficient check in with plenty of parking available 6 pm. Lovely, clean, fresh room with great shower/bath. Had a great night's sleep. Dinner in adjoining Beefeater was well presented, delicious and waitress was delightful. Breakfast was also delicious with cheerful staff and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend. Perfect stay. Slick and seamless operation, congratulations to both teams for your friendliness and professionalism.
