Doncaster (Lakeside) hotel

Our experience at this hotel was very disappointing. The rooms and hallways had a strong damp smell. The first room we were shown had blood stains on the bed, damp bedding, mould on bathroom units, a chipped and damaged bathroom mirror, a lampshade with a large brown stain, and heavy grease stains on the headboards. We checked three separate rooms before being moved to a new annexe. Staff initially tried to charge extra for this room, claiming it would be clean, which was frustrating—especially as I didn’t realize a “premium” room meant only those rooms would meet basic cleanliness standards, while standard rooms could be in such poor condition. We didn’t arrive until 10:30 PM, after travelling from London, and this was meant to be a stopover with my 7-year-old. It took until 11:45 PM to find a room that was clean enough to sleep in—without a strong damp smell, dirty bedding, or stained headboards. Staff checked three rooms with me and agreed all were well below standard and that they wouldn’t stay in them themselves. We were then advised to pay extra for a premium room to guarantee cleanliness or to switch hotels at 11:30 PM, with my child absolutely exhausted and tearful. Eventually, the hotel upgraded us without any additional charge. The new room was acceptable and certainly better, but nothing remarkable. Unfortunately, the guests above started stomping around at 1:30 AM. Being in a separate building from reception, I couldn’t contact staff to address the issue. The beds were not particularly comfortable. Breakfast was pleasant in taste, but staff began clearing away before we finished, despite being told breakfast was available until 10:45 AM. The restaurant area was run-down and not very clean. Overall, this was a poor experience, though customer relations refunded 100% when I called the following morning at 9 AM.

Friendly, efficient check in with plenty of parking available 6 pm. Lovely, clean, fresh room with great shower/bath. Had a great night's sleep. Dinner in adjoining Beefeater was well presented, delicious and waitress was delightful. Breakfast was also delicious with cheerful staff and nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend. Perfect stay. Slick and seamless operation, congratulations to both teams for your friendliness and professionalism.

Stayed at lakeview. Fantastic service, fantastic room. Very helpful staff and even in the restraunt we had a fantastic stay couldn't have faulted it. We even booked an extra night it was that value for money and we wanted to do more so figured why not.

Stayed here for one night while travelling south and received a really warm welcome on arrival. We were given a room in the annex building, which was great. The room itself was really clean, the bed was super comfy, and it was probably the nicest Premier Inn room I’ve stayed in this year. Breakfast was a little disappointing. The food itself was fine, but the plates, glasses and cups were quite grubby – as if they’d been through a dishwasher with a blocked filter. We had to sift through to find clean ones, which wasn’t ideal. The biggest issue was the coffee machine not working at all. The waitress mentioned this is a common problem and that they’re due a replacement – something that also seems to come up in other reviews. Not great if you rely on a morning coffee to hit “cruising altitude”! We ended up heading to Starbucks up the road instead. Overall, a great stay for the room and service, but breakfast definitely needs some attention.
