Doncaster Central East hotel

My waiter who was called Gabs was very friendly and professional and made us very welcome during our stay .

immaculate. comfy beds, working air con. with the closure of beefeater/whitbred closely linked to premier inn. we were still able to access bar like facilities. recommend and want a mattress

Unclean. Organised group meal for 35, flopped. 2 bar staff, 1 chef no managers. Told no breakfast on Sunday would have to go to another Premier Inn for breakfast. The majority of our group cancelled breakfast and claimed back the Sat night meal deal bought before arrival. Got up Sunday to be told breakfast was on. We all went elsewhere. We have attended Central East for the last 12 years. This was by far the worst weekend of them all. We are making alternative arrangements for next year.

I am part of a group of about 30 who have stayed at Doncaster Central East anually for the last 10 or so years. As basic hotel it has always been reasonable. This year however, after Whitbread decided to close the Cheswold restaurant/bar to the public and only use it for guests, it has gone downhill big time. We arranged with the manager for an area to be reserved for our party for Saturday night dinner months in advance. This was confirmed the morning of the proposed event with the duty manager. However, come the night of the dinner we arrived to find that, not only did we not have a reserved area, but the duty manager had not turned up for work, there was only one person taking food and drink orders and there was only one person working in the kitchen. This was compounded by the presence of several other large groups queueing to place orders. Eventually, they dragged one of the receptionists over from the hotel part to help out, but then everyone was being told they would have to wait an hour for food orders and later closed the kitchen. To top it off we were informed that the Cheswold would be closed for breakfast the next morning due to staff shortage although they later rustled up someone to do breakfasts, but too late to stop our group from demanding refunds for pre-paid breakfasts. To be fair, the ladies behind the bar worked like heroes to serve the guests and cannot be blamed. The responsibility for this farce that was lays entirely with the management, who should be ashamed of themselves. The upshot is that my group will not be staying here ever again (assuming the place stays open), but will be staying at the Bawtry Road Toby Inn 5 minutes drive away, who could not be more accommodating when we decamped there to get dinner and far outshone anything we experienced at the Premier Inn.

All in all a very enjoyable stay.. only thing that Premier Inn need to sort out is the lawns around the buildings themselves.. first impression wasn’t great .. but once in the building/rooms all very good .. bought a meal deal and it was very good value for money
