Barnsley (Dearne Valley) hotel

Cat at the Premier Inn Barnsley at Dearne Valley was exceptionally welcoming. She was on point with everything. Eager to help and assist with not being to pushy. She made our stay special. Thank you Cat

Grim. Very grim. Our first & last experience at Premier Inn… the only upside was a young helpful man at reception,’PJ’,& ‘Katy’ in the bar /‘restuarant ’ area. Rough. Shabby. Inhospitable. Stay somewhere else.

Had to go looking for towels, as only 1 set in room. Didn’t realise there was no air con room very hot no air, asked receptionist if we could have a fan was informed there was one in room which there clearly was not, she informed us she would do her best to find one then proceeded to help a lovely pregnant member of staff who was in restaurant on her own. Only 1 loo in restaurant with no toilet paper, informed receptionist again and this was not filled up.. Had the worst nights sleep ever, due to heat and pillows were not comfortable. On waking room temp was reading 28 degrees I would not stay here again.

The outside of this place wasn't much to look at, but that’s the only minor downside of my entire stay. I upgraded to a 'Plus' room—which wasn't much extra—mainly for the improved Wi-Fi. It turned out to be a massive surprise! The room was great, really spacious, and had excellent touches like ambient lighting, a light-up mirror, great A/C, and a mini-fridge - with free bottled water and chocolate, which was replenished every time the room was cleaned. The bathroom was large, featuring a spacious shower with both a rainfall and a separate shower head, plus handy night lighting. Honestly, the bed, pillows, and bedding were probably the best I’ve ever had in a hotel—far better than any 4-star hotel I’ve stayed in before. Breakfast was buffet-style some days and ordered-to-table on others, but either way, it was really good and completely unlimited, with the usual mix of continental and a full English. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, but then again, that’s just typical Yorkshire hospitality! The whole place was spotless and the room was dead silent at night. Everything was far above and beyond what I expected from a Premier Inn.

My brother and I were stopping here in separate rooms. He arrived first and when he got to his room, it had obviously not been cleaned. There were hairs in the bed, used sanitary towels in the bin. He informed the manager who ( with an accomplice) went to inspect. The manager couldn’t apologise enough and obviously changed my brothers room and upgraded him. When I arrived the manager upgraded myself due to what had happened to my brother. He also offered us free breakfast but unfortunately we had to leave before breakfast commenced. We went to eat which was good and then retired straight to bed due to being tired. I had a good nights sleep but when I got up, I noticed the toilet rolls were left in a packet on the cistern and not in the dispenser and best of all NO TOWELS ! Luckily I had a spare towel in my overnight bag and basically departed to never return. Lovely staff on reception and the bar but you really need to sort out your cleaning staff, it was disgusting.
