Barnsley (Dearne Valley) hotel

A nice, clean Premier Inn. There is no air-conditioning, so the rooms were hot despite powerful fans provided. The staff were friendly and helpful, but there was only a single staff member trying to deal with everything, apart from the cooking, at breakfast. There was far too much for one person to do. To her credit, she was positive and helpful despite the obvious pressure she was under.

We had the Premiere Plus room and it was great. Couldn’t fault it, everything you could need plus Air Con. Continental breakfast was lovely. Staff all friendly too. Would definitely recommend.

Started off great, then on the second night service was slow, waiters seemed uninterested in serving us as we waited over 20 minutes to get our orders took. After they were we waited even longer to sit and watch our food go cold at the window after the bell was rung and the bar staff carried on severing other people and taking other orders, they had plenty of time to get us our food but clearly forgot. A man’s food was wrapped next to ours ready to be took upstairs, he came down to get his food they told him to grab it from the counter which he did while taking ours aswell. He left the restaurant with both our starters without anyone saying anything. I get up to go to the bar to speak to the barman as he leaves and then returns with our food without saying anything to me places it back on the counter. The other waiter appeared and then took us the same food to server us. I mentioned that this food had already been took by somebody else he seem confused about the whole conversation and left the food with us which is a direct violation of “the food safety act 1990” . We was then told that the manager would speak to us to see if it could be sorted out. I watched all three talk to eachother and then the manager sent over the waiter to offer us two free drinks nothing more nothing less for breaking food codes

Rats roaming the grounds, rubbish overflowing from bins outside entrance, staff fairly disengaged going through the motions. Breakfast poor quality and luke warm, items missing, coffee machine broken, bad smell in the room from either the drains or industrial bins outside. Don't bother trying to get a draft pint after 10:40, staff to interested in getting off home. As always, comfy bed and a decent shower.

For business purposes, most weeks I stay in Premier Inns all over the country. I feel that the service I have received from team members at this hotel deserves recognition and praise. First night I had a problem with the bedding, once reported, within minutes the duty manager was changing my bedding and apologised for any inconvenience caused. The friendly professional service from the all of the staff from check in through to the restaurant was very good. A particular mention for Katy in the restaurant, who went above and beyond, providing excellent service and politeness. Providing the best service I’ve experienced in any Premier Inn. Thank you.
