Booked this hotel as a stopover to Cornwall from Essex. 2 adults 2 young children.
I rung this hotel at 9.30am asking if we could have an early check in as knew we would be there unexpectedly before 3pm.
The lady I spoke to one the phone was wonderful and said our room would be ready by the time we would arrive about 1.30pm and happy to pay the fee for early check in.
When we arrived, the older chap at the front desk said check in is at 3pm, I explained the phone call in the morning. He asked for proof which I was happy to provide.
He then went upstairs without saying a work to us, presumably to see which room was ready. We then received the key to our room. A little rude I thought and lacked customer service but I suppose he got the job done.
Room was clean and tidy, walls were tired, but all well and happy to stay again if needed. Tea and coffee available in the room. The restaurant connected to the hotel is no longer running, but a reasonable weatherspoons across the road.

Lovely rooms. Great reception staff (especially Danielle).
Restaurant closed for refurbishment. Breakfast very basic. Very central lots of options for food.

"Very poor for the money they changed"
Bathroom was dirty and the shower door was broken. Restaurant was permanently closed and the free fruit that was on offer was very poor quality. This was my last time staying here, you can get better and cheaper Airbnb, look for yourself.

"Great location and comfortable hotel"
I have stayed at this hotel several times. Everyone is always so friendly and welcoming. Nothing is ever too much. Even during their current restaurant renovation the team are upbeat and welcoming. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The only suggestion I would have is to have some tumblers in the rooms as well as the mugs.
Such a convenient location too. You would think it was too noisy that close to town but it isn’t.
