Taunton Ruishton (M5, J25) hotel

Empty reception desk on arrival. Rang bell, rang bell again, entered car registration number into “do it yourself” machine, several buttons only worked when they wanted to, completed at seventh go. Young receptionist arrived after a few more minutes, tried to book us in…. Had a few goes then told us the details we had didn’t match the details she had. Then said the machine wasn’t working how it normally does….. I walked away and my other half completed the trial until the young lady found our details. Now sat in a very warm room with the fan reaching maximum velocity. On the good side the fan is very quiet for the amount of work it is doing. Shame the car parking spaces are only wide enough for a penny farthing. Looking forward to tonight’s sleep, and, if I make it through, another battle tomorrow.

Needs a deep clean. Room so hot at night. Air con hardly working. Didn’t try breakfast as it was overpriced at £12 per person.

The staff and service here at Taunton Ruishton was excellent. I recently stayed at Newton Abbot Racecourse, and they could learn a lot from the service at Ruishton. Thank you

Stayed here for 3 nights as the hotel is central to the places we wanted to visit and the price of staying was excellent. We took my little girl who love her time here . The staff were absolutely amazing and couldn’t do enough. Especially Debs in the reception. She went out of her way to make us feel comfortable in the hotel and she is an asset to the premier group . She’s certainly not worried about rolling up her sleeves and getting stuck into anything. We hope to stay again and definitely would recommend staying there . Lovely breakfast and clean rooms .

The location of this hotel was useful as it was close to the motorway, though it did mean a long drive into and out of town each day. The atmosphere was lacking any dynamism, and I rarely saw a staff member on my way in or out. The room was great - as all Premier Inns are. My only issue was the noise carrying from the room above. I've never been so disturbed by the sound of heavy footsteps - sometimes til really late. I wonder if the soundproofing between floors needs looking at. I was there to deal with a very sad circumstance, so I wasn't in a jolly holiday mood. Even so, I didn't get the same vibe that I have in other Premier Inns, including the one in Taunton North where I stayed last time. This felt much different. One thing that really got to me was the lack of parking. On two occasions, I arrived back there about 9pm, and struggled to find a space at all. IIt wasn't great.
