Minehead hotel

Good location in town, with lots of paid parking. Had booked one of the accessibe rooms on the ground floor for my elderly mother and her partner - room 4, with a lovely view over the lake. They were very pleased with the size of the room and the open plan shower room. The bed was huge and very comfortable. They both slept well. However, there were so many other things that made their stay disappointing. Especially because of their age. They did not realise that their room would not be 'cleaned' each morning as they expected. This meant their bed was not made, which wasn't a problem, but their towels were not replenished and were therefore damp their entire stay, and tea/coffee cups not washed. What on earth are they expected to do with dirty cups? I asked a person who was 'cleaning' rooms if we could have clean cups and they were so nervous giving them to me, you'd think I had asked for something illegal! If there is any literature in the room advising them on what to do, they didn't see it as it wasn't immediately obvious. The reception isn't manned, so they didn't think to go ask. Check-in is self-service, but I helped with this as they would not have managed that. I did ring the bell for service, but no one came. When I didn't manage to find someone a bit later to ask about breakfast arrangements (in the Brewers Fayre onsite), at no point did they say that a table would need to be booked. This caused a lot of distress on the first morning as there were no suitable tables available. The restaurant was horrible - dirty and unkempt - which didn't help. However, as a local I know this is a moot point as it is shutting permanently soon.

Terrible experience, hotel very very tired, room carpet dirty & sticky, bed linen very tired, room ventilation awful, no one on reception to complain to, room never got serviced during our stay. Restaurant attached even worse. If you can stay elsewhere I would

An excellent premier inn and brewers fayre marvellous staff working damn hard for the company ,yet for some inexplicable reason whitbread has earmarked for closure all their brewers fayre restaurants apparently,the customers want a package with food,isntbthat what we have ? This is a corporate decision to remove the brewers fayre chain and came from a news article whilst we were there. What blithering idiot thought this was a good idea?,it no doubt was a 60 slide PowerPoint extolling the virtues of rationalisation without a single thought to the damage it will do to the premiere inn brand . Will I be using premiere in in future if they stuff over a load of staff ? You work it out ......Minehead was excellent and busy when we were there in April ,theres no excuse for this closure. I do not expect this to be published because it would make whitbread look bad ..tough they are.

Lovely and comfy stay. Clean room. Only complaint I have is having to pay parking as that should be free as staying in hotel.

Great night at Premier Inn Minehead. The only thing I would have liked was poached eggs in the morning but there weren’t many staff around .
