Bridgwater Gateway (M5, J24) hotel

Despite the friendly staff and clean room, my stay was utterly ruined by the long wait for my evening meal. It was explained that there would be a delay when I came into the restaurant, but it was not made clear that I would wait for over an hour for my meal. Apparently the kitchen could not cope with a family of 8 which arrived just before me. Unfortunately the parents did very little to control the young ones who ran around the whole the restaurant as if it was some kind of amusement park. There was no intervention from the staff and of course, if I had gone over to say something, you can imagine what reaction I might have received! As I am a regular traveller and use Premier Inn when I can, I was hopeful that the team at Whitbreads would perhaps offer a meal voucher for my next stay as some kind of compensation. As I was complimentary about the other aspects of my stay, they flatly refused my request which is disappointing but not unexpected as clearly profit outweighs occupancy rate.

Food and service was amazing.. I ordered sirloin steak medium rare which was delivered exactly that.. perfectly cooked amd presentaion was brilliant.. Compliments to the chef working tonight 6/6/26... Fabulous!!! Even when the fridge door would not close when needed!! Hilarious to onlooker but maybe not to you Chef!! X

Overall our stay was good, room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a winner as always (probably the best premier inn breakfast we've had). Dinner service was really the only let down, food was fine, as expected. But the service was really quite slow, 4 of us (2 adults, 3 & 5 yr old) we were in the restaurant for 2 hours for a 2 course meal and gave up queueing to pay in the end, went back to the room to settle the kids before coming back down to pay the bill.

Stayed here for 1 night, we visit this hotel a couple of times each year. Consistently excellent. Rooms are clean and well presented with attention to detail. No dust in corners etc. we decided to have a meal deal, the food was really good. Leah, Taylor and Lesley were on duty, despite it being quite busy the service was excellent. They were attentive, understanding and genuine. When we had breakfast the next morning it seemed quite busy. Gemma the chef was helpful. All staff on the morning of 30th May were helpful, making sure that breakfast items were topped up. Please recognise the staff, for their service. Premier inn should recognise the hotel for developing a team that care and ensure the hotel delivers the service. For a premier inn to be consistent like this indicates it’s managed well, and staff seem to enjoy their jobs. I really hope it stays like this.

We checked in around 8pm yet the room had a horrible stench, there was no windows that we could open. The controller for air-con was broken so it would stop running every few hours. By day 2, it gave up and stopped working. There was no shower gel and instead someone had filled with just water. Had to request front desk for a new one. Been staying with Premier Inn last few years and this is the worst experience.
