"You know what to expect"
Just a short walk from both the bus station and the railway station and conveniently located for town and Theatre Seven across the river. It's a typical Premier Inn set up. Our room was large, with a river view and an extra bed. We didn't have any food. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.
"The Only Good Thing About My Stay Was A Great Night's Sleep."
We booked this hotel for a 3 night stay and being a loyal customer we thought we would give it ago - On the day of check in we arrived early and asked could we check in early and pay the £15...unfortunately the female we spoke to seemed very grumpy and stressed and didn't even welcome us to the hotel but the answer we got was come back at 1pm we may have some rooms - so we left our luggage and returned at 3pm - The outside of the hotel looks very tiered and in need of a refurbishment - Our room was on the second floor and having worked in the hospitality industry myself I wasn't impressed with this place ...damp on the walls - mould around the window frame - no shower mat in the bathroom - The remote for the TV was faulty but I was only there to sleep at the night time - We had breakfast the following morning and the one member of staff who was on duty didn't seem happy - setting up the buffet breakfast and at the same time greeting guests for breakfast - this place seemed like it needed more staff - breakfast was OK but for £10.99 I've had better - we decided to try the restaurant for evening dinner and hadn't made a reservation so we went down at around 8pm only to be told by some miserable looking female that she would have to see if she could allow us in to eat - Why I ask myself? - the reason was after being told by another member of staff that the kitchen only had one oven working and the floor staff were flapping - so we went elsewhere - No housekeeper changed our towels during our stay or emptied the bin so the standard of housekeeping isn't that high as I noticed during my stay each day chocolate on the carpet on the stairs and dirty finger marks on doors - I'm all for staying at Premier inns but they really need to give this one a full make over...6/10 I would give them - the only thing I enjoyed was a great nights sleep - everything else especially staffing levels need to be addressed.
"Nice stay, will be back"
The hotel was local across from the river which was nice. It is also next door to the bus station. The train station was only a short walk away too so if you don't drive it is still handy to get to. The hotel itself is slightly dated but clean. Shrewsbury is very hilly so not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. There is an escalator in the bus station next door which will take you up to the top of the town centre which is handy. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a car park but limited spaces which if you pay for the duration of your stay you when you arrive you are not guaranteed to get parked and not entitled to a refund. The car park is not owned or run by the Premier Inn so there is little they can do.
"Don't rush"
Outside is embarrassingly ugly and dirty. Inside room is worn, tired and neglected. Old water leak stains on windowsill where mould has started to grow in the corners.
"Smooth, hassle free lodging with all the perks"
Very comfortable peaceful sleep on a Friday night with high booking percentage, refreshing shower head and exceptional customer service in the front desk and bar. They make some very tasty cocktails for reasonable prices. Coffee and all freeview plus free reliable fast wifi. Plenty of parking around the area. Will be back.
