Staff were good, hardly anything available on the evening menu no steak gammon or prawn dishes also no draft beers available; a poor options for a meal choice

"Adequate"
Firstly the positive, the hotel is central and walking distance to all Shrewsbury has to offer.
Unfortunately for us that was where the positives ended. The photo of the exterior must have been taken a long time ago as the exterior looks very shabby and does not give a good first impression. On arrival, after the check in time of 3pm we attempted to check in using the machines as there was a queue at the small reception. We were unable to do this as it said our room wasn’t ready so we had to queue to speak to a human! The check in process took around 15 minutes and the staff seemed flustered and didn’t instil confidence they knew what they were doing. We asked 2 separate members of staff for an extra pillow but this was not provided.
The room was a standard room and was also a bit shabby. As we were just spending one night and basically just sleeping there it was adequate. However, I feel that Premier inn used to be a budget brand so you were prepared for basic but for what they charge now they need to up their game. In addition the parking is an added cost, £14 for the night we were there with no discount for hotel guests as it is at other locations.
Finally we were woken up in the morning by the guests moving around in the room above and doors slamming in the corridor

"Awful Rip Off Hotel"
A nightmare to get to on a one - way system.
You have to turn into the road before the hotel to get to the hotel car -park
It is not signposted, we only found it because after going round the one - way system again we asked someone.
One woman in the bar later that evening said it took her 4 attempts to find the car park , so she was grumpy when she arrived.
When we got there the car park was full , so we went into the multi- storey car park at the back of the hotel
The hotel charges £14 for a parking place , it’s a rip -off !
We ended up paying £7.80p on the multi - storey
So my advice is park there
Checked in via a machine ! No staff
Not good value for money , we would not stay here again.
£142 for one night for a double room, definitely not worth the money
2 sachets of coffee 2 teabags and 4 tiny pots of milk, no biscuits
We hadn’t realised no bottled water, in the room , as when we got there we were late, so we just got changed and had to go out
So it cost us £6.80 p for 2 cans of still water from the bar later when we came back
One bath towel in the room
So I had to ask for another bath towel, there was only one hand towel as well in our room
It was definitely the worst hotel we have stayed in for hospitality.
We had visited friends and we went for a meal
When we got back at 10pm we
had a drink in the bar , expensive prices !
There was a party of men who kept swearing, in other hotels they would have been asked to watch their language or leave as other people did
Check out time was 12pm we checked out at 10am ( by putting our room card in a box) no staff interaction at all
They don’t care about guests at all they just want your money
We wasn’t paying their rip off prices for breakfast so we went to a lovely cafe , (there’s lots about) for breakfast
I will Never stay in a Premier Inn again
Disgraceful !

"Short stay"
Good value, surprisingly helpful staff who bent over backwards to make our stay pleasant. Good location, actually potential for quite pleasant views. I have to note though that the ground floor rooms were unpleasantly hot and smelly with no window that you could open.

"Underperformed"
Location is ideal, parking is expensive and hotel air conditioning was terrible, food was good and a very nice relaxing bar,
