Shrewsbury Town Centre hotel

One of the cheapest stays in the area and you definitely get what you pay for. The staff were good and it was clean, however the rooms are in definite need of a refurbishment, the bathroom floor was so old it had yellowed. The base of the bed creaked every time we moved in the night and the whole room smelt damp and musty. Personally I wouldn't stay here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Usual standard of room. Plenty of tea and coffee. Breakfast good. Clean but could do with a refurb especially the front. Needs painting. Didn’t eat there at night, ate at The Armoury which was good. Location excellent, can walk to most things. Parking at back cost £14 for 24 hours.

We stayed in a family room. Checked in and front desk Nathan asked for the passport. I passed him 2 passports of me and my wife. He asked for my 16-yo son’s passport. He was not with us at that time and he insisted to have all 3 passports in order to allow us to get our room. I told him my son was outside until late evening. He said he could not do anything as it is the hotel policy. (In fact, my son told me later that he stayed at Premier Inn at Manchester the prior day and no passport was asked). I had to call my son to come back so that he could present his passport and let us get the room. At the end, we presented all three passports and I asked for 3 key cards. Nathan said only 2 cards could be given as my son is only 16yo and so not eligible for a key card! THEN WHY DID YOU INSIST GETTING HIS PASSPORT TO LET US HAVE OUR ROOM?! this hotel is absolutely not tourist friendly!

Having read some of the recent reviews I was rather apprehensive about our stay at the premier inn. I knew where the hotel was as I have visited Shrewsbury on many occasions as I originate from there. The hotel does look rather shabby from the outside but having parked in the large Frankwell carpark opposite which only charges £9.60 for a full day we walked across the bridge to access hotel very convenient. We had booked a Premier Plus room and a very polite receptionist checked us in We were given room 402 on the forth floor which overlooked the river. It was a large room with lovely picture window, had coffee machine and plenty of tea, milk and coffee pods, plus water in fridge and chocolate. Lovely big shower. All for £56 !! I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this hotel.

Staff were good, hardly anything available on the evening menu no steak gammon or prawn dishes also no draft beers available; a poor options for a meal choice
