Shrewsbury Town Centre hotel

Al though some staff was very polite and helpful some staff would there would come back and help but then never did the staff was over run during busy times definitely needed more staff we was kept waiting 45 mins before anyone came and took our food order and at least 20 mins between courses and the room smelt of damp there where stains on the carpet and very well worn and the shelf at side of the bed was all broken with sharp edges and i had small kids and when I told them there wasn't bothered

Stayed here a few times But this week was then worst Was given room 211 Sounded like the panther tank division were Parked outside So in The morning I explained I needed to move rooms Lady at reception Who took ages to get there Explained we are fully booked I explained I couldn’t stay in that room Said fetch your bags down will move you Any way move on to next evening Explained situation And bloke tried to give me room 211 After me telling him the story He kept on about he couldn’t do anything Then he swapped my room Then he changed it again Moving on to Thursday night we decided To have food in the hotel Gary mr helpful Said have you booked a table In the very empty restaurant I said no So Gary said 8pm We said no He had as much Charisma as a dead flower Think He enjoyed being award Anyway avoid room 211

Paid £123 for a midweek night in October. For that money i expected a reasonable experience in a nice room. Instead we got a room which smelled strongly musty and damp. The windows are sealed shut and the fan in the bathroom didn’t work so hardly surprising that the room smelled. Carpets weren’t clean in the corridors and the single lift (the second wasn’t working) had seen better days and was very grubby. Overall this hotel needs a complete refurbishment. Location is good but we would not stay here again as the hotel is just poor.

We upgraded to Premier Plus this time around which was a little better than standard and good if the price is right. Room had everything we've come to expect from a standard room plus a fridge, dodgy "premium" wi fi and a coffee maker. Great location for Shrewsbury town centre.

If you need a hotel near to the train and / or bus station this PI is an excellent location, beyond this, sadly there's not much to praise. I have been staying at this particular PI for many years and it's now very tired and dated and staff are reflecting this. As other reviews have mentioned, the rooms really smell bad and are in need to a refresh. Also, one lift is out of order so expect a wait at busy times, particularly if you are on top floors. Also, breakfast buffet is not available if you go to breakfast before 7am, items can be cooked to order but expect a long wait.
