"Its ok for the one night stay"
Hotel
The hotel it seems is just outside Witney, maybe 20-25 minutes walk which isn’t bad, and the town has some good shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and a cineworld.
Room 116
The room looks ok, pretty basic.
Aside from the bed and a chair theres a unit housing the ‘wardrobe’ a hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities. And the typical desk you get in hotel rooms with a small desk lamp.
The TV is good, a proper guide which is nice, no scrolling through channels.
The beds quite basic, just a wooden frame suspended by two supports on the short ends (head and foot ends) with nothing along with the long edges or underneath.
And those sides are held up by rather small caster wheels, they look more suited to an office chair than a bed.
Either side of the bed is a bedside lamp, but beyond that the bedside amenities are different - the right side has a small wooden shelf as a bedside table, meanwhile the left side has a bar stool as a bedside table (also only the left side has a plug socket, important to know as I sleep with a CPAP machine.)
The room is rather well lit with the bedside lamps, the lamp on the desk, and 4 bright spotlights in the ceiling (and a fifth in the ‘corridor’ to the door).
Its a very quiet room, looking out my window I’m literally above the entrance to the covered section of parking.
Admittedly, there was some noise in the morning as people were loading their cars right below me to leave, but there are no sounds of cars coming/going or traffic passing on the road etc.
The air con is incredibly loud, no way I can sleep through that, and I couldn’t figure out how to turn it off?
This was a battle.
On the control by the bathroom door theres an on/off switch, which does nothing, the vent continues to throw out cold air regardless.
Theres three fan speeds to play with, but whichever one is selected it seems to have no effect on the vent? Similarly the temperature control does nothing to the air coming out.
Are you sure this control is for room 116, or is room 115 experiencing a lot of sudden inexplicable temperature changes?
I finally gave up and asked at reception, the staff said they could turn it off from the office, but it still didn’t ever seem to turn off, until when without really thinking about it, I turned off the bathroom light.
Silence!!
Not sure how the bathroom light and air con are linked, but it seems the moment I turn the light on, the air con springs into life!?
Night
I actually slept well, the mattress is a little hard for my liking and the caster wheels at the foot of the bed do move slightly.
Having to sleep on the left side so that I could plug in my CPAP machine, I pulled over the desk chair to place it on as I did not trust the stool (not much surface area on the stool and it seemed a little wobbly (the last thing I want is to turn in my sleep and have to pick up my CPAP in several little pieces))
After my fun with the air con it stayed off all night, but the room was not uncomfortably hot or cold.
Bathroom
The bathrooms pretty basic.
Good workspace for toiletries and it has a wall mounted bottle of hand soap (I usually bring my own bar of soap but for one night I did not think it necessary, so I’m glad for this bottle!)
The shower looks good, a decent size cubicle, a handheld shower head, separate controls for water pressure and temperature.
Similar set up to what I have at home.
The water pressure is good and there is good variation in temperatures, not hot to cold black and white like in some places.
The first big drawback though was the cubicle door, it was incredibly heavy and did don’t want to move easily, I took my shower with the door open as I was worried I would be unable to open it again if I closed it behind me.
The next downside was in the shower itself, they have a bottle of hair and body wash which feels more like a dribble of grease in your hand, it runs away with the water without ever lathering up and leaves my skin and hair feeling more greasy than when I went in.
I accidentally left my own shower gel and shampoo at home so had no choice but to use thiers, although in hindsight I would have been better with just water.
Breakfast/bar
I went to the bar in the evening, not much of a bar really, a few wine bottles and bottles beer in a fridge along the back wall. Not even the proper bar, there was just regular seating all around it and they used one of the tables as a bar counter.
A couple of brands I like though so it’ll do.
Curiously there noone here at all (except one person cleaning and acting as barman)
Here they also serve breakfast, although we weren’t very keen to have a big full English so went to a café in Witney instead.
Summary.
Its ok for the one night stay, if/when I stay in the area in the future I would consider coming back here.

"What's the point of booking a meal deal"
Not impressed arrived at 16.00 got checked in and inquired about what time restaurant opens as booked meal deal, only to be told it was closed as they did not have a chef
Approached the manager in the morning and suggested they warn people with bookings that the restaurant is closed so they can make other arrangements
They always have your phone number and e_mail
The reply I got
Was that's a idea he did not appear to care

"Premier Inn has lost its way"
Ok for 1 night The bed was fine but glad we did not rely on the Restaurant for evening food as it was closed. Breakfast was ok provided you did not want cereals. Sadly we are old enough to remember when staying at Premier was an enjoyable experience with great restaurant food. There also appeared to be a shortage of staff. (Strange given the number out of work)

"Comfortable but restaurant issues"
Prices are good for the room, which was clean and comfortable. As per other recent reviews, there was an issue with the restaurant being closed, however as we had already visited the McDonalds next door prior to arrival, and were leaving before 6am, we had no concerns about searching around for food. Receptionist seemed overworked but greeted us pleasantly. Air-conditioning is noisy, but our tip is to just turn it off at bedtime.
