Oxford South (Didcot) hotel

Great place easily reached by both road and rail , perfect for exploring . Clean comfortable bed , fridge and fab walk in shower . ( much better than the high bath we had last year when we stayed at same place ) Staff attentive but not in your face . Didn’t eat in this time but seems a good deal if you want to . Perfect for visiting Newbury , Abingdon , Oxford , and surrounding countryside . We will be returning . On the down side is the pay to park , really shouldn’t be so for guests . Premiere in keep up the good work.

When we arrived to check in as a family of four, the room we were given smelled very strongly of marijuana and tobacco. We alerted reception, and the staff member came to the room and agreed with us about the smell. Unfortunately, there were no other family rooms available. He offered to convert another room into a family room, but as he was working alone this would take some time, so we were unable to leave our bags and instead went out to visit the family we had travelled to Oxford to see. When we returned at around 10pm, the entire hotel was in complete darkness due to a power cut, with guests gathered in an unlit reception area. The neighbouring restaurant was also affected. The receptionist was clearly under significant pressure and waiting for a manager to arrive. Given that it was late, we had two tired children with us, and we still had not been able to access a room, we made the decision to leave. The receptionist confirmed that we would be able to arrange a refund through Guest Relations. I fully understand that the power cut was outside the hotel’s control. However, the real issue has been the extremely difficult process of obtaining a refund. I called Guest Relations the following day and spent considerable time explaining the full situation, only to be told they needed to confirm details with the hotel and would email within five working days. I received no follow-up. I called again the next week and had to go through the entire experience again during another 20-minute call. Once again, I was promised an email response, which never arrived. After a third call, I have finally been told that a refund (excluding the £4.50 parking charge) has been processed, which I am still awaiting. It has felt unnecessarily exhausting to secure a refund for a room we were never able to check into. I should not have had to spend nearly an hour on the phone to resolve this. An apology or some gesture of goodwill would also have been appropriate, particularly as we ended up sleeping on the floor at a family member’s house due to the late hour and lack of alternatives. This experience has unfortunately put me off booking with Premier Inn again.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming and always helpful, the room was very clean and set up as I requested (my little ones to big for a cot but would fall out of the big bed so it was lowered to the floor) Special thanks Sophie and cherry who were on reception, and Mandy and Chloe for cleaning our room throughout our stay

you think you get a cheap room..add £4.50 parking, single beds add £10, early check in add £15 per person, no free WiFi it is £5 , if you want use it .... freezing cold at night had to use the spare duvet.. stayed there many times in the past , getting run down ..breakfast is still good though

Overall very good stay. Very tidy, orderly and high quality environment to rest and relax in. Bath was very enjoyable. Room temperature was comfortable. My only 2 cons would be paying for parking which considering the carpark is pretty sizable seems unnecessary or least should be cheaper. Other thing was the WiFi speed was pretty low so better off just using your own data tbh. Beyond that, I very much enjoyed myself and would be happy to stay here again.
