"I wouldn’t choose a Premier Inn normally - but pleasantly surprised."
We booked a Premier Plus room here for one night because of its convenient location close to an event we were attending. The hotel is situated just off the motorway and directly opposite a service station with an M&S Food store, which was very convenient.
On arriving at the car park, we did wonder what we had booked. There was scruffy outdoor furniture, rubbish bags lying around, and the overall appearance was untidy and poorly maintained.
At reception, however, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who was happy to check us in, saving us from having to use the self-service kiosk.
Our room was on the first floor, and there was no lift, but once inside we were pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, clean, and in good condition, as was the bathroom which had a walk in shower. The air conditioning was especially welcome on a hot night, and the room also included a fridge and tea and coffee-making facilities.
An ironing board was provided, although there was no iron, with a hairdryer being available. The bathroom toiletries were adequate, but they were supplied in wall-mounted dispensers with removable tops, meaning they could potentially be tampered with. As a result, we chose not to use them.
Overall, for the price, we were pleasantly surprised. While the exterior and surrounding areas could do with some much attention, the room itself was comfortable, well-equipped, and offered good value for money.

"Wouldn't stay again"
Room was very nice and clean- clearly recently refurbished. The fan in it was good which was helpful as there is no AC, the window opened barely 1cm and the thermostat showed a temperature of 29 degrees throughout our stay which was extremely uncomfortable.
Check in worked fine on the machines, though we did see another guest needed assistance and the receptionist who came to help was very rude and unhelpful. He was clearly annoyed at being asked simple questions about check in and parking!
Parking is fine and cheap. There is a park and ride 15mins drive away that gets you in to the city centre for only £2.50.
Breakfast is ok if you’re happy with continental but the cooked breakfast was soggy and the worst we have had at a premier inn. Whilst the restaurant was much cooler than the hotel it is in desperate need of a good clean and refurb. The restaurant staff were helpful and friendly though.

"Roasted"
Firstly let me say I accept that I was staying at this hotel at the end of the hottest week we've had in June. However that does not excuse the failure of Premier Inn to take into account the effect of the weather on the temperature in the rooms. This hotel does not have air-conditioning in standard rooms. the temperature in my room at check in (12 noon) was 30'c. the window opens 4 inches. On returning to the room at midnight it was still 30'c and even with a fan blowing all night it was still 29'c when I got up in the morning. There was no acknowledgment from the staff of the temperature in the rooms and no steps taken to mitigate this, not even the provision of bottled water. I wont be staying with Premier Inn again, ever!

"Disappointing"
Very disappointing experience
Electronic check in unserviceable and receptionist was dealing with a complaint on our arrival
The room key would not activate the lights so went back to reception and was given an additional key to make the lights work
Room 138 looked tired, the carpet didn’t look clean the toilet had stains and the bathroom bin had not been emptied
The saving grace was the bed which was fresh and very comfortable
