Oxford Botley hotel

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The ventilation in the rooms does not work, so the air is never properly renewed—and as a result, there was a significant amount of mould. The bathroom was heavily affected, with visible mould spreading across surfaces ; the overall dampness and lack of airflow made it feel like the issue extended throughout the room. On top of that, there was dust everywhere and stains on the bedsheets, which made the cleanliness feel very poor. I ended up changing rooms halfway through my stay. While the second room was somewhat better (which wasn’t hard to achieve), and the ventilation was at least working, there was still a significant amount of dust. Additionally, the hotel is located right next to a busy ring road, making it extremely noisy.

Mould in the bathroom, especially on ceiling and all around shower. Soap dispensers needed a proper clean. Flooring was sprinkled with pain. Staff didn’t care much when we raised the issues. There were finger prints on the sockets and gust all over the furniture. The extracții fan hose was blowing the air from the bathroom into the bedroom; surely a heath hazard with all the mould.

Overall the three members of staff I met were at best inexperienced and at worse poorly trained. One was enthusiastic the other two were unable to bring themselves to say good morning, or how can I help you, when the coffee machine went on the blink, and needed attention. The cooked breakfast was acceptable, but nothing like the picture on the menus. The dinner was lame, burger, fries and coleslaw which would have been better prepared at McDonalds. Service was slow, at least 20 minutes before meal arrived, and then I had to ask two separate staff members to order a dessert - smallest portion of ice cream prize. Bathroom was not super clean, with dried soap visible on the tiles. First thing I wanted to do on arrival was make a cup of tea in my room, but there were no tea bags or milk, so I had to go straight back down to reception to help myself. So overall, not terrible, but lacking attention to detail and just lacking in general.

We rented two separate rooms, one room had black mould all over the bathroom ceiling (room 221), the other had a clogged drain in the shower (room 417), -had to stop showering to avoid flooding the floor! Both bathrooms were poorly cleaned especially between the sliding shower doors and behind the shower head rail. I filled in the contact us on line comment form and no-one ever got back to me, the staff in the hotel appeared not to care and it seems management doesn't either, I even took pictures and offered to show them how bad their rooms were, they never replied so I'm posting the pictures here. Ignore any of the hotel propaganda you read about "Clean Protect" or their hygiene promise......this hotel chain just doesn't care!
