Banbury (M40, J11) hotel

We had the worst experience ever at a Premier Inn this week. We were allocated 3 different rooms in total and there was problems with each one. The first room had no handle on the window so it wouldn’t fasten. Staff told us they could fasten it which we refused as that could have been a fire hazard. The second room already had someone in it when we went in. The third room only had a curtain covering half the window which isn’t good when it comes light at 3.30am and wakes you up. Also had problems with the keycard not working so had to go backwards and forwards leaving my disabled husband and our luggage in the corridor. On the plus side the breakfast was great.

On arrival, hotel looks clean and modern, this was the same in reception and all the way through to the rooms. Unfortunately the dining experience was not good. We had not pre booked and told it would be a 45 min wait, so that would be a 7.30pm sit down for eating. That was fine. We sat at 7.30, very quickly asked for our choices, two people and we both ordered mains only. We waited half hour and then noticed a number of people around us get up and leave and say they had been waiting an hour for food and still nothing. At that point I went to a member of staff (as no one was coming to us) to ask as we couldn't wait that long, I was told 5 mins and to be fair about 10 mins later it arrived. My issue is first off, the staff/kitchen knew they were busy early on and with people booking tables they know how many people are going to be sitting at exactly what time so why such long delays?? Also, as there were so many disgruntled patrons, the staff should have made it a priority to go around to tables and just say how long it would be and give us the choice or staying or leaving.

Great location just off the m40,looks modern on the outside,however the hotel wants a massive refurbishment.getting old and tired.staff that I spoke to was brilliant,shame the building wasn’t as good Feels another case of profits before customers

Greeted by a friendly staff member who helped me to check in. We got there late and had a horrible stressful experience on the way and she was very helpful. Our accessible room was clean and had ample room for a wheelchair. Bathroom had grab bars in good places, my only gripe was shower seat was extremely small and the wall basket to place toiletries were to the left behind you when you sat on the shower seat which isn't great if you cannot stretch or twist. But the room was great, bed comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was excellent, they catered really well for gluten free diets and cooked me some lovely vegetarian sausages. The toilets off the restaurant were very clean and modern. The disabled toilet was excellent with everything close by to use and at the end of a corridor so easy to access/exit. Loved the fact there was a Costa Coffee opposite for our morning coffee and there is a Hotel Chocolat on site also which was a bonus. All staff in the restaurant and bar were very helpful, definitely would like to return one day in the near future.

Basic but clean and comfortable, my room could have done with better airconditioning. The hotel provides a tasty, substantial breakfast. However, it would be nice to have 'a person' in the reception area. Walking into an empty and silent reception area (with sticky flooring) was disconcerting. Other than that I have no complaints.
