Northampton West (Harpole) hotel

Booked here, as I have an early morning pick up at Luton Airport, and it’s a long journey from Yorkshire. I have stayed in many Premier Inns and am always satisfied. The room was clean, and quiet, no complaints there. The lady on reception was very polite and helpful. It is an extremely hot day, and the fan in the room isn’t amazing. I received an email 2 days before to say that the pub, The Turnpike, is permanently closed, so there is no hot food served onsite, and there is no bar. Shame really, as it’s a nice big pub, and I’ve always found the meal deal to be good value. Because of the pub being closed, it feels like the whole place has the air of somewhere on the verge of closing.

This was by far the worst premier inn I have ever stayed in! We stayed for the F1 grand prix and paid a lot of money for 2 rooms, neither were of any decent quality. The family room was dirty, with spiders and flies and hairs in the bath tub. The bathroom was mouldy and paint was peeling all over the hotel. There was a faulty plug socket which gave me a shock and we reported this to reception but nothing was done except to advise us to complain as they were fully booked and we could not therefore change room but it was unsafe for my daughters to stay in so we then had to swap rooms which meant they had to share a double bed which then meant they couldn't sleep properly at all due to medical issues. My partner and I then had the family room and didn't dare use the plugs as they were unsafe and he needed his breathing machine plugged in to sleep. Overall the hotel was dirty and in need of a full overhaul and I dont believe it is safe to have some of these rooms available to customers. To say we paid over £1700 for 2 rooms for 4 nights I am disgusted and would warn anyone against staying here especially with children!

Excellent service and comfortable beds. The room however was extremely hot and fans were provided. Would be a good idea if Premier Inn had fans in each room or even small air cons.

Stayed before, will stay again. Is perfect for what we need. Love the PI brand. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed during our visit but was directed to a local pub instead. Really handy location and super quiet.
