York South West hotel

York South West Hotel (Bilbrough Services). A one night stopover in this Premier Inn on way to the Great Yorkshire Show. Although a bit dated inside it was clean, very functional and the service was outstanding. Probably one of the best I have stayed in. Very quiet too considering it is by a very busy main road. We had the meal deal. Excellent value and all cooked fresh to order. Very good menu with plenty of choice. Staff were very friendly and very efficient with special thanks and much recognition to Sue M. Such a lovely lady who really loves her work and making people feel welcome. Highly recommend this Premier Inn.

We stayed during the very hot spell and were worried about how cool the room would be in to sleep. They do have aircon which is set by the reception office and was at it's minimum of 19 degrees. This make the room pleasant enough but the sound of the aircon's fan even at low speed make sleeping difficult for me as a light sleeper and I had to use ear plugs which I don't normally do. That being said all the staff were a delight, friendly and helpful. The car parking is free and our room was in a quiet location.

We stayed at this hotel as a family of 4 for an overnight. It was ok for that but not much longer. The hotel is in need of an upgrade, its very dated and worn in places. The room was clean but small and cramped for a family of 4. We have had bigger rooms in other Premier Inns. We had booked with breakfast but the area for breakfast is so small a time had to be booked in advance for this which we were not notified of. The only time available to us was 7:30am which wasn't great at all. Breakfast itself was ok but portion sizes on the cooked breakfast was small. Location was close to York to drive to and its situated in a service area with a McDonalds within a few minutes walk.

Don't book if expecting decent air conditioning. We booked during the recent heatwave as knew hotel rooms would be stifling. We booked this hotel as it was advertised as having air conditioning. Unfortunately the air conditioning is pathetic. Not strong enough to cool the room in any way. Did not go lower than 19 degrees and air trickled out of it. The surrounding area is a service station so unless this hotel is perfectly located for your stay I'd avoid it.

We have just spent two lovely days in York staying at Premier Inn York South West. Upon entering the hotel we were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist, who couldn’t of been more helpful, a far cry from the soulless machines we had to negotiate at our two previous stays at Dudley and Pickering. Our rooms were very clean and tidy and the restaurant, though not the largest, was perfect. Evening meals and breakfast were very tasty and perfectly cooked to order, so lovely and hot. Although everyone was friendly and helpful, I’d particularly like to thank Sue our waitress, and Katie, who went above and beyond to make the six of us feel very special . A lovely stay, with excellent staff, who made us feel so welcome. Can’t wait to go back next year.
