"Great location from York city centre."
Good central location into the city, about a 10-15 walk from the hotel. The train station is located further away, so you would need to get a taxi as it’s roughly a 40 minute walk. There is a free phone in reception to call for a taxi. Check in was a complete disappointment, no staff around when we arrived to check us in for our early arrival ( we arrived just after 2pm) Even when we buzzed for assistance, it still took sometime for a member of staff to arrive. I even tried phoning the hotel the day before our arrival, to check to see if we could get our rooms close together as we had booked 2 separate rooms ( family/ double) but I got no answer. It’s not what you expect when you have travelled far & paid for early check in. Thankfully when we did finally check in, they did manage to get us rooms close together on the same floor. Cleanliness of this hotel was overall reasonably clean & tidy in reception areas, communal areas ( lifts/ corridors) restaurant area & our rooms. However when I requested to have our rooms made up on our 1st morning there, the family room that we had, hadn’t been done, so when we returned later that night, we had to end up climbing into an unmade bed. I wasn’t very pleased about this, I don’t expect to be making my own bed when I’ve paid a lot of money to go away. It definitely was done the next day, when I explained to a staff member that I wasn’t happy that my room had not been made up. We also paid to have breakfast every morning while we were there. There was a good selection of food for breakfast from continental to a Full English. One of my family member’s has an allergy to gluten, which the staff member, asked us if anyone had a food allergy when we arrived at the restaurant for breakfast & they gave us an allergy sheet with everything on it that he could have, they also offered to prepare gluten free toast, he just needed to let them know when he was ready to have it & they brought it over to the table. Overall the stay itself was good, but Premier Inn needs to work more on their customer service skills & friendliness at check in.
"Disappointing stay"
Very dirty hotel from the foyer to the room. Litter on stairs when we arrived three days later still there . Room needs deep clean, windows especially. Shower door unacceptably dirty. Shown to table for breakfast (all three days) no explanation of procedure no eye contact . Breakfast very disappointing, several trips to pass for more eggs and bacon. Very Poor quality .. Staff quite disinterested in us, sadly they didn’t seem to have the skills required. Always loved Premier Inns but definitely not this one ..
"Very poor"
Very poor experience. Staff couldn't be bothered and had zero customer service skills, especially the lady on reception when we departed. The toilet in our room was stained, which in a new hotel is unforgivable. It really was a demonstration of poor management and quality control. We won't be staying in this hotel again.
"Very friendly, clean hotel with good food and in a good location."
I was very impressed with this Premier Inn. The staff were really welcoming and always managed a smile and a short chat if we wanted one. We had standard rooms and the bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean...even the kettle which didn't need the cleaner I'd taken to clean it before I used it! The mattress cover, duvet and pillows were spotless. Even though our rooms overlooked a very busy road junction with many blue-lighted ambulances wailing past, the rooms were so quiet; no traffic could be heard at all. It's location is pretty good too. There is an Asda round the corner and a great pizza place too...with a climbing wall! It's within walking distance of the city centre too or there's the Hop on Hop off bus stop down the road. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
"Very good"
Recently stayed here with family. The hotel was very nice with a great location, 5 minutes walk to the city centre. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were very nice. There did not appear to be an awful lot of staff on and the ones that were working were very busy, that would be my only criticism. I would definitely stay here again.
