York City Centre (Layerthorpe) hotel

Good location 5 mins in a taxi from station. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom and comfy bed as I have come to expect from Premier Inn. Good water pressure in shower and comfortable temperature in bedroom. Weird that as a solo adult, the room was huge with a sofa bed I didn't need and room for another double bed! Seemed rather a waste. Big step down getting out of bath was unexpected (and a little dangerous) and the noise from people slamming doors through the night was awful. Just hold the door instead of letting it slam shut?! Someone else on here with kids also complained about this but I'd also say if you have kids maybe don't let them stomp/run/jump all over the hotel room as I can GUARANTEE the people below you are cursing you. Very thin floors. I was in a roadside room and heard nothing from outside at all the only noise was from other inconsiderate guests. Complaint would be staff service......not enough! One person manning reception and luggage storage and restaurant seating is not enough. And a bit of eye contact wouldn't go amiss. It was a busy hotel with a very strange table arrangement for breakfast all nooks and crannies and no one showed us to a table we just had to wander off and find the buffet and a table ourselves. Felt a bit lazy and unhelpful. On leaving we'd ordered an uber and didn't recognise the pick up location street. Bar staff directed us to the completely wrong place and we ended up having to race back round to the hotel carpark. Staff should 100% know the main taxi pick up spots. Would stay again for its convenient location but they could do better.

Went to catch up with friends, hotel was clean, quiet, excellent soundproofing. Breakfast was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

The room was very clean. The shower facility was great. The staff were very nice. The breakfast was fantastic! Overall, wonderful!

The location is excellent just a few minutes walk from the city centre and less than a minute to the city wall walk. We stayed in a Premier Plus rooms, which we always strive to do as they are worth the extra charge. The car parking is very expensive at £16 for 24 hours, with no per hour rates, so if you need to move your car and return you WILL be charged for two 24 hour periods! A real con. I wish Premier Inn would provide summer weight as well as winter weight quilts, as ths weather was very hot for our stay. We left the air con running but this meant with the cover on it was still too hot and kick it off and it is too cold.

Lovely hotel. The staff are all friendly. Rooms very clean and quiet. Food quality is excellent . Location-wise this hotel is perfectly situated for the centre of York. Fully recommended.
