York City (Blossom St South) hotel

The hotel is very well located, a short walk from the train station and very close to the centre of York. As in many Premier Inn hotels, the welcome was friendly and courteous. The room was clean and very comfortable. One minor drawback was the air conditioning: it wasn't very strong, but since we were only there for two nights, it didn't bother us too much. Several days before our arrival, I received a message informing me that the elevator was out of order. I contacted the hotel to ask if compensation was planned for the reduced service, but I did not receive a response. Since there were still about two weeks left, I thought it would surely be fixed by the time we arrived. It wasn't. There was a message stuck to the elevator that we could ask for help with luggage (we were on the 3rd floor). Instead of having to ask, it would have been preferable to have a valet system in place to carry luggages up without us having to request it, since the elevator service we were supposed to have was unavailable. Finally, I am not criticizing the staff on duty. I think they were courteous and did their best under the circumstances.

Absolutely shocking. Room had black mould and dripping damp. No alternative offered and staff had clearly given up (when I eventually found someone). One said they’d burn the place to the ground given the chance. There was no manager present and I was left to find myself an alternative hotel, luckily this was sorted out by work and I ended up somewhere decent and close by. Another guest found a dildo in their room so I suppose it could have been worse!

I was really impressed with how close this hotel is to the train station, especially since I walked there. Check-in was quick and efficient, which I appreciated. The location is great overall, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, and you’re just a short walk from the York walls and most of the main attractions. It’s also well connected by transit, with a bus stop right outside the hotel, which is especially helpful for anyone with mobility concerns. The entrance area is simple and very much what you’d expect from a Premier Inn. They were happy to store my luggage before check-in, which was convenient. However, when I came back to get my room, the only elevator was out of service, so I had to carry a large suitcase up three flights of stairs. That wasn’t ideal and is the main reason I’m giving this hotel 4 stars instead of 5. In terms of value, this place really stands out. For the price I paid, I got a clean, spacious room with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. The view wasn’t great, just a car park, but I wasn’t in the room much anyway. The air conditioning worked well, although I didn’t need it much, and the shower pressure was solid. The showerhead was a bit worn, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. I didn’t hear any noise from other guests or outside, so soundproofing seems quite good. I was only there for one night, so I didn’t use any of the amenities, though there is a restaurant on-site. If I’m back in York, I would definitely stay here again. The value is hard to beat, especially compared to what I experienced in Edinburgh and London.

Nice quiet hotel with comfortable rooms in an ideal location. Just a few minutes walk from the train station and the main town and tourist attractions. The only downside was that the lift was broken which wasn't a problem for myself but other people may struggle if they were placed on higher floors. The staff were amazing and very helpful though and offered assistance to get my luggage up the stairs. Had a very pleasant stay here

We stayed here for 2 nights the hotel was clean and the staff were lovely and friendly it’s situated not far from the town centre with plenty of bars and restaurants would recommend
