York City (Blossom St South) hotel

I am extremely disappointed with our recent visit. My family and I waited approximately one and a half hours for our main meals to arrive, meaning we spent close to two hours in total waiting. Throughout this time, we received very little communication or explanation for the delay, which made the experience even more frustrating. This level of service is completely unacceptable and falls well below the standard we expect from Premier Inn. Our visit was filled with frustration and long waiting times, and we feel this situation should have been handled much better. We hope you will take appropriate action to ensure other customers do not experience the same poor level of service.

We only came here for breakfast as Premier Inn breakfasts are usually pretty good. Not the case this time, we waited ages to be welcomed and pay, on attempting to get a drink, there was only one machine, a big queue and no mugs. These took over 10 minutes to arrive, then there were no dishes, another wait. No fruit either. There were only 3 types of pastry there, brioche rolls, croissants and fairy cakes. Very disappointing and to finish off, of two toilets, one was in use and the other had water up to the brim. Then the tap for washing hands was a single mixer way too hot to hold your hands under and there was no temperature control. Most of the problems in the restaurant were caused by poor management, there were only two staff on duty on the restaurant floor and they were run ragged and were having to deal with irate customers which should have been addressed by a manager.

The service and experience were outstanding. We have stayed here regularly for over 10 years and everything is as you would wish it. The manager, Eliana, dealt with us courteously and we could find no fault with any aspect of this most efficient and well-located Hotel. You are midway between York racecourse and the City; all amenities are within walking distance. Many of our business colleagues who are also in York to attend an event at York racecourse continue to stay here and all seem equally happy to return. It makes our visits to York a most pleasurable experience and I compliment Premier Inn Blossom Street South for retaining and encouraging their capable team of people who appear to enjoy their work. Actually stayed in the North part of the Premier Inn but I’m sure they’re similar. Room is as expected for a premier inn room, have to asked for it to be cleaned. Stayed a week so I asked mid week expecting a bedding change but this didn’t happen. Basically they emptied the bin and left some fresh towels on the bed and straightened it. There is very rarely any staff around, the ones that do appear are however very friendly and must get credit for having to do ten things at once……which brings me to the restaurant……don’t be in a rush, once served it’s quick and the food is edible but you could be expected to wait round to actually be seated as they are on reception as well as god knows whatever else. 20 minutes to be seated not very good, but like I say not the staffs fault this is premier inn. Location is excellent, couple of minutes to walk to the station and the same into the main area of York.

Only allowed to check in after 1500 hrs even though room was ready before that. This is the most ridiculous hotel. Never see a hotel that is so NOT flexible. Room was facing main road so it was noisy from people and cars. No houskeeping unless you tell them upfront. Ridiculous!
