"Trip to Blossom Street south Hotel for 2 nights"
Stayed in Blossom Street south Hotel for 2 nights when we got there was no staff at the check in, finally after a couple minutes after check in time a staff member shows up and tell us our room wasn't ready even after being floor 1 and it being 20 minutes past check in time. When we finally go to our room it was so dirty even after being checked over and over. In the evening when we go to go for dinner no one shows up for 10 minutes to take us to a seat. This happened even the next day for breakfast and dinner. Overall I do not recommend this hotel next time trying the travelodge down the road

"It's a roof over your head, and not much else"
There are not many positives I can note for this hotel, however I will say that the staff are brilliant. All but one person I encountered on my 3 week stay were lovely, kind, and did their best to be helpful.
That is where the positives end. First of all, the car park is not owned by Premier Inn, so if you are travelling for business be mindful that parking generally won't be included. The parking charges are £15 per night - but rather than run from when you arrive until when you leave, this is from 12noon to 12 noon - so arrival in the car park at 11:45am on a Monday and leaving at 10am on a Tuesday (less than 24 hours) will incur a 2-day charge (at £30).
The hotel restaurant is actually shocking. While the food is edible, you couldn't go much further than that. It's basically ready meals and microwaved options - you'd probably eat better at Wetherspoons. There's limited to no provision for allergies, and I'm yet to visit the restaurant and it take less than 90 minutes even when eating alone. On average, time from arrival to order being taken is 25 minutes, and time from arrival to delivery of a main or starter is around 60 minutes.
The wifi and phone signal in the hotel is shocking. The wifi is so slow it took 17 minutes to load the speed test website which shoed less than 1mbps download speed. The phone signal seems to be a 'dead zone' and download speeds on 5G were around 20-40mbps - though none of the 3 different rooms I stayed in actually had any sufficient mobile data signal at all - I spent a lot of time sat in corridors downloading what I needed to. There is also no phone signal in the restaurant and the wifi isn't any faster there.
The restaurant is held in the Blossom Street south building where they have ultimate wifi, which I'm assured is faster. However despite on two occasions being promised access to this network while in the restaurant, it never materialised because Blossom Street North does not use it.
The cleanliness of the rooms varies. The first two rooms I stayed in were fairly pleasant - standard Premier Inn fare, though there were bits of rubbish stuffed down the back of the headboard in one room. The final room I stayed in was awful. The pain was chipping off all the skirting boards, the toilet took 3 flushes to actually flush, mould on all the times, dust and dirt all over the walls, the lights were practically falling off the wall. To be honest I'd encountered so many issues across my 3 weeks generally that I just accepted this and made do because I couldn't handle the hassle of yet another thing not having a resolution.
As I've already said though, the staff have been wonderful and made every effort where they can to adapt and improve things. I would personally never consider ever returning here, and if you do have to stay here, I would avoid the restaurant.

"Pleasant stay"
We've stayed here a few times over the years due to its good location. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. It was good to have a walk in shower with a glass screen which is a vast improvement on the old over the bath showers with a shower curtain. Hand soap and shower gel were provided. Rooms are only cleaned on request now which suited us as we prefer to come and go as we please rather than having to navigate around cleaning times. You can help yourself to top up beverages and milk at reception and request clean towels when required. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly. Our only gripe during our stay was when using the bar on the ground floor. After a long day walking around York, we decided to end the day with a glass of wine. The large bar area was virtually empty with maybe two other tables occupied. My husband went to the bar to order and was told they only had ONE wine glass.... in a bar...... seriously? Not the end of the world but bizarre.

"Basic lack of cleanliness"
Me and my husband visit York every October for our anniversary and have stayed in a number of hotels. We were happy to be able to book a hotel that was close to the station but within reasonable walking distance of the centre. Upon arrival at the North Blossom street premier inn (giving there are absolutely no indications of where the south hotel is), we were checked in fairly quickly and made our way to our room. Because we were only staying for 2 days, we didn't want to mess around so we dropped our bags off and left. Upon returning, I noticed just how much of a state the room was in. I will note here that I have a cleaning business so I notice a lot about a hotel room. Firstly, the smell of drainage in the bathroom. I checked the plug holes and they seemed fine but the smell was really pungent. There was also what looked like either toothpaste of shampoo dripped all the way down the bottom of the bathroom door. Furthermore, in the room itself, the lamp, headboard, picture rail, pictures and light fittings all had a layer of dust across them. I get that housekeepers have a real job on their hands with this place, but why is there no housekeeping supervisor to check over their work? Dusting is a straight forward job in any hotel room and it was obvious that no one had dusted in there for at least 5 days - a week. The worst thing we found was the ventilation above the door, it was absolutely caked in dust and it was evident it had not been touched for weeks if not months. A simple hoover of this would have worked wonders.
Another issue we had was the incessant wurring noise of the fans outside our window, my husband likes the window open at night for fresh air but the noise coming from these fans was ridiculous.
We can't comment on the food as we ate out both nights.
Considering we paid £331 for this room, We expected a better standard of cleanliness. The housekeeping team should be made aware that they are lacking significantly in doing the most basic of tasks.
Would we return? Unlikely. The location is fine but the housekeeping have really let themselves down,

"Premier rip off"
Premier Inn by name and by cost. Basic Inn by actual service. Bear in mind that we paid £303 for a weekend in York. First off the entance to our accommodation building was filthy, with dirt, leaves etc all over the floor. Our room had a musty odour to it, the carpet was worn and dirty. Bedside lamp switch on one side was covered in rust or dirt, the light on the other side constantly flickered. There was a bulb out in the bathroom. The skirting and bath trim in bathroom looked as though it was either suffering from wet rot or was just filthy.
We had breakfast on the first morning @ £10.99 per head, which was an even worse experience. There were very few staff on, and we waited 10 minutes to be seated. The table was filthy, we cleaned it ourselves with anti bac wipes. There were no bacon, eggs, tomatoes available on the buffet, or even bread for toast. We waited an eternity for someone to appear to help. We then had to wait a further 20 minutes for the food to be replenished. The food when it eventually arrived was decent. None of the other tables were cleared whilst we were dining. Shambles. Considering the cost you would think the wi-fi in the room would at least be usable, but oh no. So I purchased their "ultimate" wi-fi at an extra £5 per day which in all honesty wasn't an improvement on the free wi-fi!! All in all a miserable experience in a hotel we used several years ago and was great back then. Would Lenny Henry stay here - not a chance
