York City (Blossom St South) hotel

Absolutely shocking. Room had black mould and dripping damp. No alternative offered and staff had clearly given up (when I eventually found someone). One said they’d burn the place to the ground given the chance. There was no manager present and I was left to find myself an alternative hotel, luckily this was sorted out by work and I ended up somewhere decent and close by. Another guest found a dildo in their room so I suppose it could have been worse!

I was really impressed with how close this hotel is to the train station, especially since I walked there. Check-in was quick and efficient, which I appreciated. The location is great overall, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, and you’re just a short walk from the York walls and most of the main attractions. It’s also well connected by transit, with a bus stop right outside the hotel, which is especially helpful for anyone with mobility concerns. The entrance area is simple and very much what you’d expect from a Premier Inn. They were happy to store my luggage before check-in, which was convenient. However, when I came back to get my room, the only elevator was out of service, so I had to carry a large suitcase up three flights of stairs. That wasn’t ideal and is the main reason I’m giving this hotel 4 stars instead of 5. In terms of value, this place really stands out. For the price I paid, I got a clean, spacious room with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. The view wasn’t great, just a car park, but I wasn’t in the room much anyway. The air conditioning worked well, although I didn’t need it much, and the shower pressure was solid. The showerhead was a bit worn, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. I didn’t hear any noise from other guests or outside, so soundproofing seems quite good. I was only there for one night, so I didn’t use any of the amenities, though there is a restaurant on-site. If I’m back in York, I would definitely stay here again. The value is hard to beat, especially compared to what I experienced in Edinburgh and London.

Nice quiet hotel with comfortable rooms in an ideal location. Just a few minutes walk from the train station and the main town and tourist attractions. The only downside was that the lift was broken which wasn't a problem for myself but other people may struggle if they were placed on higher floors. The staff were amazing and very helpful though and offered assistance to get my luggage up the stairs. Had a very pleasant stay here

We stayed here for 2 nights the hotel was clean and the staff were lovely and friendly it’s situated not far from the town centre with plenty of bars and restaurants would recommend

This hotel is a great place to stay in York. Conveniently next to the train station, and a 15-minute walk to York Minster and other attractions in the city centre. There are plenty of pubs, breakfast places on Blossom Street, and a Sainsbury's Local within a 2-minute walk. The staff at this hotel are fantastic (especially the nice young chap at reception!), and the room I stayed in was spotlessly clean. I received emails/notifications four weeks in advance that the lift was out of service and it will take me longer to get to my room. Plenty of time and notification if I needed to move to another hotel, and change travel accommodation, etc. I was very kindly offered assistance with my luggage as I was staying on the third floor (top floor). My Premier Plus room was massive and had plenty of space! Very clean as well, and a window that I was able to open. Super comfy bed and great shower! A shame about the lift not working as many other guests voiced their concerns about having to climb stairs, but in a busy hotel like this one, these things do happen unfortunately! The staff did the best they could in this situation.
