"Parking nightmare"
Nothing wrong with the hotel BUT beware the car park! We paid at the hotel reception for three nights car parking. Three weeks later we have received three seperate demands from Horizon Parking for using this car park, one for each day at £60 per day. Thankfully we have kept the bill from the hotel with the parking charge itemised. We have had to fill in three seperate forms on line to prove we had already paid. Just remember to retain your receipt if you park there!
"Worst premier inn I've stayed at for a business trip"
Room stank of mildew, mold all over shower room, lots of stairs even on ground floor access, I travel for work and bring a lot of equipment that i wont keep in my car the staff would not let me change room. I nearly fell down stairs taking equipment to my room.
"Bit of a let down"
Clean, room, that had basic amenities, very small side tables, no drawers, not many hangers. The bathroom served it's purpose but lacking in towels. Insufficient staff, those that were there were excellent in doing their job as they were doing several roles. The food both at breakfast and evening meal was excellent although the areas in the restaurant especially the shelves were covered in dust.
"Fine, really hot rooms."
Room was fine and clean, location is really good. The main issue was the room was incredibly hot. It was about 20 degrees outside but the room stored a lot of heat. The windows have the safety catch which means they open about couple inches at most (if they got rid of this or allowed a wider opening the room could probably cool better). The thermostat reading clocked in at 28 / 30 degrees throughout the night. They've left a fan in the room but it doesn't do a lot. I ended up propping open the main door for a while to get the corridor air into the room. The next morning when checking out the people in front of me were complaining to the receptionist about the same issue. Her reply felt curt and was along the lines of "the website states there is no air conditioning, so there's nothing more we can do". I'm sure she must hear it a lot, but there was little sympathy or interest in caring about the customers' concerns and humouring a solution. Also the building has no lift, so watch out if you have a lot of luggage. Otherwise, great location so close to the train station and the city, shame about the hot hot rooms and disinterested staff.
"Air con in room was horrific. Room had no plug sockets by bed"
North street version is very much a forgotten hotel. Reception is fine. Bar and restaurant is in the south hotel (short walk, not in hotel). Room was terrible. Air con was worse than someone breathing through a straw. Couldn’t sleep. No bed side drawers. Bathroom was mouldy and small. No plug sockets by bed. Had to ask for an extension lead for my Sleep Apnea machine. Cheap - not so cheerful.
