"Issued a key to the wrong room — and then accused of breaking in"

At check-in I was handed a key for a room already occupied by other guests. As I was travelling with a friend who had checked in earlier, I wasn't immediately suspicious to find luggage already there. I went to sleep. I was woken in the night by the room's actual occupants. The confrontation that followed was frightening. Being woken in an unfamiliar room, in the dark, in a situation that was not of my making — I was shaken for the rest of the night and did not sleep at all. I dread to think how differently it could have gone. When I went to the front desk, the response made things worse. The staff member misspelled my name, failed to find my booking, and essentially accused me of having broken into a stranger's room. Rather than take any ownership, she deflected blame onto a named colleague who had worked the earlier shift. I have since invoked the Good Night Guarantee and submitted a formal complaint. I'd strongly encourage Premier Inn to review how it's possible for two paying guests to be issued keys to the same room — because the consequences of that failure could have been far more serious than they were in my case.

"A comfortable stay and a great base from which to explore the city."

A great location just a short walk away from York railway station. The check-in and out staff were very friendly and helpful. They were happy to store our bag both before checking in and after checkout out allowing us to explore the city unencumbered. The room was very spacious with a roomy bathroom where basic soap and body/hair wash products. A great base from which to explore the city.

"Well located Premier Inn, excellent for the railway station"

I was perfectly happy with my brief stay here. My room (1110) in the main building was perfectly clean. A bit of a faff to have to walk outside to the other hotel for breakfast, but the breakfast itself was fine. An excellent location, very near the station, and also with a pub next door, a Wetherspoons across the road, and a Sainsbury's Local a short walk down the road. A very pleasant walk to the centre via Micklegate or the Roman Wall.

Avoid this one. Grotty room with dirty cups, empty shampoo and nasty smell in the bathroom. Curtains didn’t fit the window. Room was very tired - including corroded fittings

"Not to the Expected Standard"

I use Premier Inn regularly for City Breaks and short-stay excursions. The Blossom Hill Hotel was possibly the worst I have experienced. My room was in need of some maintenance to bring it up to the expected standard. It wasn't dirty per se, but it felt grubby and badly maintained. Worse though was the appalling state of my friend's room. She found examples of mould on the walls and ceiling. When I spoke with her after our visit, she said that she was struggling to get a full refund. I would have thought this would be the least Premier Inn would offer, as the state of her room was clearly a health hazard. I have future reservations this year at other Premier Inn hotels and I will be monitoring the rooms and the service closely. I hope the experience my friend and I had at this hotel proves to be an exception.
