"Some good, some not so good."
The interior looks as though it has been refurbished and is clean and smart. However, whilst accepting that many people stay for only a night or two, the provision for clothes storage is almost non-existent. It amounts to no more than a handful of totally exposed coathangers and some clothes hooks on the wall. No drawers, no shelving, minimalism carried to the point of non-existent.
Bed is up to usual very good standard.
Air con/heating is adequate but very noisy.
The exterior is in poor shape, rather shabby, with peeling paint and unattractive appearance, particularly the pub/ restaurant which looks semi derelict from the road.
The restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. When we were there the hot breakfast buffet was not available but was cooked to order, better perhaps in some respects, but not the advertised offering.
In the continental breakfast area there were none of the advertised blueberry muffins, croissants, crumpets, clementines, apples or mixed berries.
The hot water device was out of order with only a small pot of rapidly cooling water for those who wanted tea.
Female staff were hard working, very helpful and friendly, the males less so.
So a mixed bag, acceptable but could be much better.

"Poor and disappointing"
Arrived at 5.30pm to be told limited menu on the meal deal. Accepted with good grace and ordered food for 8pm. Was informed by bar staff at 7.30pm that they had run out of food. Strange because only a few people had been in the dining area since the bar opened at 6pm. Bar area became overcome with sewage stench causing us to leave. Was given a refund for the deal and a goodwill complimentary breakfast. This was poor quality with no freshly cooked eggs and bacon like leather. Poor choice of alternatives available. Room ok but public areas dirty and run down. Decision to not stay for our second night. Went to Premier Inn Harrogate which is 100 times better.

"Premier Inn"
We checked in early and had to pay extra. Although zi don't know why as it only took seconds.
The tea, coffee markings seemed to be on limited supply. We ran out a few times.
The evening meal menu was limited and some of the food supplies had ran out.
I ordered cider with my meal and expected it to be cold but it was at room temperature.
The bar room was partially decorated. The ceilings had large missed areas of white emulsion.
