"Total lack of staff."
My wife and I have stayed in this Premier Inn on a couple of times in recent years and have always enjoyed our stays there, but this time in was awful. We were told after booking that there was building work going on, but we couldn't see what work had been carried out as the building looked run down and very tired. The attached pub we always used on previous visits has closed and a small in-house restaurant put in place which is absolutely awful. The breakfast during our stay would be comical if we hadn't paid for it as so many items were not available, not even butter for the few bits of toast we did find. On a better note our room was very good and thankfully air conditioned. The staff are overworked and trying their hardest, we felt Premier Inns are not Premier anymore if this is what's happening to their hotels. The photos of this hotel on their website are very misleading so be warned.

"Very disappointing experience"
There was no ventilation whatsoever in the room. This meant that the building had become so warm during the heat wave that even with the curtains and window open as far as it would open and 3 fans on full blast all night (2 were already in the room and we approached staff in the evening to request a cooler room particularly as we had our two young children with us and were advised that there was not one available and were instead given the third fan), the room remained at 30 degrees consistently and did not cool all night despite the outside temperature dropping to 16 degrees, well over 10 degrees below this. In fact, it was raining and 14 degrees when we left. This made for an incredibly uncomfortable night and we barely slept, with both our young children being hot to the touch all night. I was so uncomfortable that I would have left and slept in my car had I not been with my children. It also meant we left early and had to detour elsewhere to get ready for the formal event we were attending as the room was too uncomfortable to remain in any longer than necessary. When we left we flagged the issue again to staff, particularly as we were concerned that it is not safe for housekeeping to be working in such conditions continuously. We were assured the feedback would be passed on to management and it is hoped that the issue will be addressed in the current renovation work. I am very disappointed in the Premier Inn, which I have successfully booked with on multiple occasions in the past, particularly given the high price of the room (£141 for one night without breakfast) which I have paid for in full. I do not feel that I have any incentive to book again with Premier Inn given this very unpleasant and disappointing experience.

"Awful time."
Surprised that we had booked 2 rooms. I was not given a disabled room, granted I had not booked one, but did point it out on arrival. Dirty bathrooms, with mould and slimy sinks and bottles. Then to top it all the water was shut off, with no warning, whilst we were getting ready for a funeral!

"A fab stay at Premier Inn Harrogate South"
Very warm welcome and staff was super kind, evening receptionist was helpful and attentive as well as the manager Tim attending to guests quickly. Nice and clean room to boot and a very quiet sleep despite being next to the train station. Breakfast seemed better than previous stays at other locations. I will be very pleased to stay again on my next Harrogate trip!
