Norwich Nelson City Centre hotel

We have stayed at this Premier Inn on several occasions and sadly it has become more and more dilapidated over the years, to the point that we would not recommend it and don't plan to stay again. The location is excellent (just a few minutes from the main train station and with good access to local shops and bars). Staff are friendly and helpful, but, apart from this, the hotel is completely worn out and not up to Premier Inn standards. We had a "Premier Plus" room and the carpets were stained, walls marked, furniture tired. The air conditioning was noisy and opening a window was no help given the loud traffic even at 2/3am from the nearby main roads. The main issue was in the bathroom where the shower would not return to 'cold' after turning it to 'hot' and it took a huge amount of force on the mixer to get it back to 'cold'. On reporting this to reception the response was simply the problem was known about, that it affected all the rooms, and when they could get maintenance in to the rooms it would be addressed. This is totally unacceptable especially if the guest had accessibility needs, etc - a shower for which the guest can control the temperature should be a basic provision. As other reviewers have commented the surrounds of the building are also grotty and feel unsafe. The pedestrian access to the site is down a small alley which is usually full of rubbish. It is a shame that through underinvestment this hotel is simply not up to standard, moreover, that the customer pays the same amount regardless despite known issues at the location. Having been a regular customer of Premier Inn over the years, and at this site, I can't continue to recommend it.

In a great location right near the train station and not far from main centre with bus stops nearby too. The view from the hotel with the river is lovely. Breakfast, very good. Staff very friendly and room was clean and well equipped. Whole building is quite tired looking and dated though and the WiFi is not very good.

Great position of hotel. Easy to get into city. Easy check in and check out. Great parking facility. Room was very comfortable and clean (plus room).

Staff were excellent on my arrival late at night, specifically, Shell and HoneyLyn were extremely patient with me as I tried to get my bearings after a 5 hour drive! room was air conditioned and clean, mattress was comfortable, and had enough room to do what I needed, also had a minifridge. Bathroom was of a decent size, shower unit was good and warm. Room had a view of the nearby river. Breakfast was also good at the on-site restaurant, thank you for an amazing stay.

Good location, but not up to the normal Premier Inn standards. The building looked like an old 60s office block, and our room / bathroom was in need of a total refurbishment. To access the main entrance, you have to walk round the back of the car park, which was fine, but I wouldn't recommend for a woman on her own. The side passage is open during the day, but the steps needed sweeping, the rubbish there on the day we arrived, was still there on the day that we left.
