Norwich City Centre (Duke Street) hotel

We stayed at premier inn in August on a basic round the world trip from Australia that included seeing all our uk family members for the first time in 30 years The only serious downfall of our entire trip was the Duke st Premier inn Admittedly it was in August in the peak of summer but its the first place ive ever stayed that it’s seriously more hotter inside the room than out and we are from Australia Even though we requested at the front desk and by putting the card on our door not once in six days did we get any room service whatsoever, mot even a bin emptied Because of staying a additional day we had to check out on the Saturday morning and re check in again that afternoon, we had advised and asked could we leave our luggage in the room just to be told a abrupt No , we are moving u to another room, came back at two got our key and yep, same room and Still hadn’t been cleaned I went back down to the front desk and questioned this a a very apologetic man said they should have let our bags stay All the staff especially the breakfast lady were absolutely lovely but there is one foreign lady on the front desk who makes basil faulty look like a angel, she definitely doesn’t deal well with general public, we also had a man with half a foot missing who had to walk from the council multi story car park every night ( over 20 pounds pers day) because they have no parking The breakfast is very good and the restaurant very clean, just don’t stay there in summer and brace yourselves for Cruella at the front desk

Pros: Quiet and well presented rooms. Good breakfast and wifi. Most staff polite and competent Cons: - The bathroom ventilation fans are far too noisy and come on automatically just by switching on a light. Very disruptive for a shared room in when others are sleeping. - Charges are not transparent. The booking receipts sent by email and on the website are not transparent about the deposit paid and balance owed on arrival so there are unexpected charges. When you pay the charge, it doesn't show on the website. The breakdown of charges are sent in an invoice by email only after you have checked out and they are full of jargon such as 'Prepayment Mature' that is meaningless to the customer. - The swipe lock keys regularly stopped working. I had to go down several times to get the re-activated. - One member of staff at the reception didn't seem to know what his colleagues had previously done and said. I had already checked out and checked back in again and had to subsequently repeat it all over again a second time with a second member of staff and write down the names of the guests and my nationality despite having done all this online. He then proceeded to draw an analogy with a flight check in which I found patronising especially has a failed to understand the source of my confusion. He then said I owed money but failed to explain what it was for.

Ihad a pleasant stay at Premier Inn Norwich City Centre and would like to thank the night staff Kyra and Shaun for their help during my visit. They were both friendly, professional and always happy to assist with any questions I had. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The bed was good and everything was well maintained. Housekeeping did a good job and I didn't notice any issues during my stay. Breakfast was good with a decent selection of hot and cold options. Everything was fresh and well stocked, and the staff in the dining area were efficient and pleasant. The breakfast staff were lovely. Overall, a good experience and I would be happy to stay again.

Room was lovely and clean and nice to have a room with a bath in, check in was quick and staff very polite, evening meal and breakfast was nice so what more could you ask for 👏🫶

So, we upgraded knowing- from past experience - how hot this hotel gets when the sun is beating down on it. Premier plus and accessible rooms are the only ones with air con. The room was fine with a strong air con, excellent shower and helpful front of house staff. Well-recommended.
