Norwich City Centre (Duke Street) hotel

Room was lovely and clean and nice to have a room with a bath in, check in was quick and staff very polite, evening meal and breakfast was nice so what more could you ask for 👏🫶

So, we upgraded knowing- from past experience - how hot this hotel gets when the sun is beating down on it. Premier plus and accessible rooms are the only ones with air con. The room was fine with a strong air con, excellent shower and helpful front of house staff. Well-recommended.

The stairs were being redecorated while we were there. As Premier Inns go, the Duke Street branch has seen better days. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious. The shower was fixed, for practical reasons no doubt, but the spray was aimed at the wall. There were 2 fans in the room so, despite the heat, it was a reasonably cool night's slip. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the tv was large and easy to operate. Two chairs and a table, as well as sufficient drawer and hanging space for a short stay, the room was excellent as was the price for a Sunday evening. Breakfast was included in the price but, due to only 20 people in the hotel, the buffet wasn't running. Everything was table service. Seemed odd but it worked well. The staff were great. Very polite and helpful to the point of checking Google maps for the shortest walk back to the railway station. Centrally located but walking from the railway station it is best to know the shortest route as there are many uphill climbs. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from a huge array of shops, independent as well as national. Harrold is just around the corner. You can leave your luggage with the desk if you arrive early and also leave it with them if you want another wander round Norwich after checking out.

Hotel was as expected, and a short walk to the city centre, so those elements were good. However, the room was awfully hot. Admit we went during a heatwave, but normally you’d expect it to be cooler indoors not the other way round. Getting changed became a sweaty fiasco and trying to sleep was difficult. Would recommend the hotel to Satan or other hot realm dwellers, otherwise go when the ambient temperature is less than 25 degrees centigrade.

The Hotel was nice enough and in a good location for our theatre trip however the temperature inside the room was unbearable. I realise we are in the middle of a heatwave and they had placed a couple of fans in our room on arrival but it was so hot we were unable to sleep or spend any time there during the day. It was actually cooler outside on a 35 degree day. The rooms are in desperate need of air con and I urge anyone thinking of booking during a heatwave to consider if they will be ok as could potentially be a hazard to health
