Wirral (Childer Thornton) hotel

The location is like a building site! Walked into reception and the smell was terrible (wish I had of left before we checked in). We were staying on the lower floor just off the reception area (room 112). The corridor had the same smell and after a while, our room was starting to smell. Went to reception to find out the cause, she told me that there had been a lot of rain over the last week and that the water was running onto the entrance area and fire exit area. In my opinion, this is from more than a weeks worth of rain. All me and my wife could smell was very bad dampness, so decided to have a shower only to find that there was only 1 bath and hand towel. The bathroom could do with a lock of paint and the room itself was taking its toll from the building work that was going on as the paint was coming off where the wall and ceiling joined. There was a complimentary breakfast on offer of tea, coffee (the coffee machine was broke), fruit, croissants etc, but we could not wait to get out of the hotel. All we could smell was damp, even when we driving home. This hotel should not be open while it is having so much work done to it

Stayed here overnight room was clean despite refurbishment going on. Bathroom bit dated with shower curtain and fixed shower head with weak water pressure. Breakfast continental as expected although coffee machine broken and hardly any fruit available. I would stay here again for a similar reasonable price.

A warm welcome from the staff Sam and Louise. Our cleaner Wendy was excellent. The disruption from the renovations did make a difference, but things will hopefully get back to normal soon. We did miss the excellent breakfasts and dinners.

Laundry delivery guy dragging numerous large wheeled crates across the concrete floor right outside my window before 6am!!! I thought it was an earthquake and being awake at that time ruined my day

Very nice hotel. Have building work going on at minute but this had no effect on us what so ever. Easy check in and friendly staff. Nice big room for the 4 of us. Had big Tv, coffee making facilities, hairdryer, fan. Complementary breakfast due to building work. Good choice of cereal, pastries,porridge and fruit and tea coffee and orange juice. Have nothing bad to say about our stay.
