"So Much for “Good Night’s Sleep” Refund"
On August 21st myself and three friends stayed at a Premier Inn in Liverpool for two nights. What ensued was a catalogue of problems, the worst being that on reaching the room, the toilet didn’t work. Five and a half hours later, after several complaints, and still with no working toilet, we were forced to repack our cases and move rooms. This at 10:45pm and long past my bedtime.
Premier Inn offers a full refund if you don’t get a good night’s sleep, however our problem apparently did not meet this criteria. Instead, it was classed as an “inconvenience” (did they mean no convenience?).
After lengthy email exchanges, I was eventually offered, as a “goodwill gesture”, free breakfasts and reduction in part on the room cost.
Not being an unreasonable person, I accepted this offer, however three weeks have now passed, and despite even more emails, I am still awaiting this refund. Apparently Premier Inn cannot find my credit card account details. I find this somewhat surprising as they certainly found them when I was paying for the room. I have now sent copies of my credit card statement, so you might ask how difficult can the repayment of an agreed refund be? I am convinced this is a deliberate customer relations tactic to delay and delay, in the hope that you finally give up.
Despite their advertising slogan “rest easy” and the promise of the good night’s sleep guarantee, I feel Premier Inn have little concern for customers or problems they encounter. Sir Henry, I suggest you find a more customer friendly company.

"A tired city centre hotel desperately needing some TLC"
I frequently travel to Liverpool for work and as my normal hotel wasn't available booked at the nearby Premier Inn close to Moorfields Station. I generally like Premier Inns as you know what you are getting and they are keenly priced, but sadly this one fell short. Other reviews have commented on the lack of available staff and need to use the automatic check in and that was my experience. I found the machines less than intuitive, mainly because it wasn't immediately obvious to me how you set up your room key. The hotel itself looks very tired and is in desperate need of a refurb. My room itself was basic, the curtain rail was partly broken, the carpet looked to be about 30 years old, but otherwise standard fare for an older Premier Inn. The sound of footsteps constantly thudding across the floor on my first night wasn't welcome and another sign that this building is a little tired now. I stayed for three nights and despite leaving my card out for the room to be cleaned it didn't get cleaned once. I think that's pretty poor quite frankly. On leaving the hotel for the final time, again there were no staff handy and the box for depositing keys was on a board which was not immediately obvious. Liverpool is a thriving city these days which has really blossomed in recent years with many new buildings and restaurants. Against this backdrop the Moorfields Premier Inn really is a bit poor and desperately needs some money spent bring it up to the standard you would expect of a city that is known for its warm welcome.

"Not the finest example of the genre, great location."
I was initially put off this particular Premier Inn, as I found the gentleman on reception to be rude, sarcastic, and unhelpful.
Having said that, on the whole, this was a fairly positive experience, and we will use this budget hotel again (for the location, and price, as much as anything).
Although we had been warned about building work, and had concerns about the noise level in central Liverpool, it was surprisingly quiet.
The room was clean, cool, quiet, and very comfortable.
Apart from that one receptionist, staff were fairly pleasant and polite.
The restaurant in the evening was not great, by any stretch. Everything was overcooked and flavourless, items were unavailable from the menu, and from the bar. We only went for the meal deal for convenience, and I wish we'd known how many decent bars/restaurants are in spitting distance, and gone for one of those instead.
Breakfast was pretty good. Staff were chatty and pleasant, and there was plenty of relatively fresh hot and cold buffet food available. Staff were working hard to keep the decks clear.

"Not a lot going for it"
A shabby Premier Inn. Again faced at the reception with the check in screens and staff asking me to use it, only for them to come round and check me in for me. What's the point?
Thought having a 4th floor top room would mean it would be quiet but no, there are some sort of generators up on the roof that make quite a noise 24 hours a day. Windows hadn't been cleaned for ages. A plus was at least you could open them.
Bathroom flooded during my stay from underneath suggesting the plug hole plumbing has become detached. Ended up having to use the towels to mop up the puddles.
Bed was good and pillows too were of a decent standard.
Pokey breakfast area with not a huge amount of places to sit. Staff just went about their business, not particularly welcoming.
