"No air to breathe!!"
A hot day in Liverpool with two children, our room not only didn't have air conditioning but also we couldn't open a window, not even by a few inches to let some fresh air in to the room. Very very uncomfortable stay, a hotel bedroom surely has to have some way of obtaining some air in to the room. Neither adult or child slept any more than two or three hours, an horrendous experience which just ruined what should have been a nice weekend shopping in one of our favourite cities to visit.
"Good stay"
Had a really good stay at Premier Inn. Everything was just as expected — simple, clean, and comfortable. No complaints at all. Would definitely stay again.
"Disaster check in and disappointing manager attitude"
We visited for two nights for a gig. Check in was diabolical - we arrived past 4pm where check in was “from 3pm” expecting the room to be ready. Obviously this was not the case. There were queues of customers waiting to be checked in but none of the rooms were clean, and all the front of house staff could tell us was to come back later. They couldn’t tell us how much later. The manager had said to us in their defence that check in was “FROM 3pm” but surely it’s the customers discretion as to what time after 3 they need to check in, not the hotels! His attitude was very unhelpful and unwelcoming. The front of house team were clearly overwhelmed and stressed. When we finally had checked in, our keycards worked for our room door but not for the elevators or the entrance door to actually get in to the hotel, so we were stuck outside a few times! The keys needed to be replaced two more times before they finally worked. This was clearly a common problem the staff faced. Our room then hadn’t been set up as a double bed but instead two singles, which of course I don’t mind since they’re rushed and stressed, these things get missed; But on trying to turn the beds into a double the clasps were broken so they had to remain as two single beds which was quite an inconvenience. It’s such a shame as you could tell the front of house staff were as disappointed and irritated by the whole situation as the customers were. They basically needed more staff turning over the rooms, and to fix the keycard check in systems, which was completely out of their control, so I can’t blame the front of house staff for trying their best. Unfortunately it did ruin our experience there and we will not be visiting again
"Good stay"
We stayed two night in this hotel recently to attend a Bruce Springsteen concert. On arrival the hotel is underwhelming, you need to enter a drab lobby and take a lift to the second floor to reception. There are automatic check in stations but the girl on reception was on hand a offered help. This particular girl was helpful throughout our stay as we had an issue with the door key and had to have them replaced as we could not access our room. The lifts are very unpredictable, sometimes they stopped on the second floor, sometimes they went further, up to them. The room was clean if basic, the TV remote needed batteries. We had a few drinks in the bar/restaurant on one evening, it was quite but the bar staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly a young man from Manchester. I do need to mention another man who appeared to be a manager, could not have been better to us. Breakfast was the normal, nothing special bit had all you needed. We paid a premium price for two nights because Bruce was in town. If you get this hotel for the "normal" price you can't go wrong, location is excellent and the staff were lovely. Its a basic hotel no doubt but we had a good stay and would go back. That's says a lot.
"Premier plus room"
On arrival at the hotel, we had to get a lift to the reception area. I say reception area, it was three self check in machines. During a recent stay in Blackpool Premier Inn we were advised by the lovely staff there (maned 24 hours a day) we could pay extra for an early check in which we took advantage of. No mention of that at Liverpool when we eventually found a member of staff to help. We booked a Premier plus room. We were just informed check in was at 3 so we left our luggage as we had booked a show. At 5 pm we finally were ready to book in. The receipt that printed out for payment was blank! Then the machine stopped working . After a few minutes, we found a member of staff, she sorted the problem out then gave us our key cards. Arriving at the lift, the key card just wouldn’t work and you need the key card to go up in the lift. So out of the lift back to find help once again. Is this going to be a catalogue of errors? Finally, we arrived in the Plus room which had a king size bed, coffee machine, fridge and walk in shower, ironing board and iron. I must say, the room was spotless but the only view we had was the flat roof of another building. As for the television, the sound which was very poor quality wouldn’t go above 23 so we had to put the subtitles on. Changing the Chanel, we missed half the programme because the remote was slow! Not joking honest.. When arriving for our pre paid breakfast, we waited a minute or two for a staff member by the wait here board. The staff member asked us to sit where we wanted. We found a table but like most other tables was empty of knives, forks spoons and napkins Eating breakfast we noticed queues building up of people waiting to be shown to a table. No staff members were around. One time a man stood there for I would say around four or five minutes. In the end, he just went and sat down. Sitting in reception later in the afternoon, I was waiting for my daughter who had gone to a local shop. A elderly lady came up in the lift and was obviously struggling walking, she had a walking stick . I asked if she was ok she looked unsteady, she replied I’m exhausted. She went on, I’m waiting to check in, it was only 2.30. Just then a male member of staff arrived and said check in is 3. She just said, oh I’m exhausted. The member of staff just walked away not even caring or checking about the lady’s welfare. She went into the bar area to get a drink. As I’ve stated before our room was lovely I just don’t like the lack of staff at check in, what happens if you are visually impaired? How can you check in then? The management needs to think of these things. They will lose custom. Never have I had this before in any Premier Inn.
