"A pleasant stay, with friendly and obliging staff"
Sue and all the team are very welcoming. We have been before and will go again as we are made to feel as if it really matters to them that we have a pleasant stay. If we need anything the staff are always obliging, even when they are busy. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bed invites sleep! The room was clean, well prepared with a pleasant ambience,
"Smelly room"
Room smelled of the drains. Opened window and let the room air while we went for dinner. Came back used the toilet and flushed it, horrendous smell again. The attached Brewers Fayre is tired, dated and in need of a deep clean. No staff serving food, our desserts were forgotten about and after waiting 30 minutes we had to ask, waited a further 10 minutes.
"Adequate for one night stop over!"
Probably one of the shabbiest premier inns I’ve stayed in. Needs updating. Staff very nice though! Not enough staff on at breakfast and lots of the food selection were empty and we had to ask an already stretched team to fill the empty pots.
"Poor communication, disappointing breakfast on checkout day, and an uncomfortably hot room made our family’s stay far be"
We stayed here as a family of 4 and honestly it wasn’t great. When we checked in, no one mentioned that we had to ask reception if we wanted the room cleaned. Apparently there’s a note on the door but after travelling we just went straight in to rest, so we didn’t see it. The next day we came back to find the room hadn’t been cleaned, towels weren’t replaced, bins still full. Only then did reception say we needed to tell them in advance. Would have been so easy to just tell us at check-in. The breakfast was another let-down. We paid for the “unlimited breakfast” (two adults, kids eat free) but on our second morning — the day we checked out — the buffet was closed. No hot food laid out, just bread and bits, and we had to order cooked items from staff. It’s awkward to keep asking for more, so it didn’t feel unlimited at all. If you advertise it, it should be there, busy or not. The room was also very hot and stuffy. We even asked for an extra fan, but it was still uncomfortable, especially for sleeping. Overall, not worth the money and not the relaxing stay we were hoping for.
"Little school holiday break"
First impressions were very good- easily located off the M6 (some more business signage might be useful once off the M6), good parking availability, clean entrance, welcoming staff. Room was adequate for a family of 4. We said on our booking 2 adults, 2 children because we are family of 3 generations travelling together not a 2 parent couple, as is ALWAYS assumed. The extra beds are reasonable and fit well once we moved the 2nd bed to the foot of the spare bed to give easier access to beds/bathroom. We were in room 18. There is NO A/C. We were given a fan and this helped a bit but it is extremely warm in the room especially after showers, even with window open. Very quiet inside the hotel, despite improvement works being carried out. A little noisy in the car park one of the mornings. Staff were very friendly, helpful. Breakfast was great- I wish there were more drink options for younger guests. Fruit juice or water or milk but no hot chocolate. No chocolate spread for breakfast either despite it being on the menu. The pub closed early- last food order was 8.45pm and last drinks around 10pm. Lancaster City is not far but you do need to drive/taxi. Would definitely stay again in warmer months IF air con is installed! Would 100% stay again outside warmer months.
