"A Dreadful Premier Inn"
There are some good Premier Inns around but this one is not one of them. In fact I would say it is bottom of the pile.
Everything works but a refurbishment is long overdue. It is frankly tatty and uncared for. The scene is set by a triangular brick flowerbed near the entrance which is falling to pieces and has become the repository of cigarette buts.
As you go along the corridor to your room the lights only come on individually when you are about six feet away from each of them, energy saving gone mad!
The room is dull and uninspiring and looks as though it was last decorated about 20 years ago.
Breakfast is served in a dreadful Beefeater next door which lacks light and is really like a time warp from a 1970's motorway service area. In order to brighten it up someone had the idea of painting the columns bright orange which only makes things look worse. I really had no idea that such awful places could still exist in 2026.
Breakfast was edible but couldn't find any brown bread.
In fairness the staff were absolutely fine and the location next to the River Medway is good and quiet.
Because of its location the hotel attracts people and therefore probably means that Premier Inn management think that they don't have to do anything to improve it.
If they did though it would probably attract far more people and also the Beefeater would gain from passing trade, which is plentiful, and currently catered for by the cafe further down the river by the lock.
Really it is a missed opportunity to make the most of an excellent site.

"overnight stay in Premier Sandling."
Quiet location close to M20. Very convenient beef eater for breakfast overlooking the river. Friendly and helpful receptionist. Blackout curtains in the room. cordless kettle and glass cup so you can see they’re clean. Very thoughtful limit on TV sound.

"Another enjoyable stay"
Another lovely welcome from Suzanne and an enjoyable stay. Quiet, comfy room, WiFi worked well. Good location with riverside walks. The Beefeater next door is always good value for money.

"Comfortable and great value for money"
Our experience was excellent. We travelled with our son and booked a family room. The beds were very comfortable, and we loved the bath and coffee/tea facilities after a long drive. The friendly receptionist helped us locate a power adapter in the middle of the night. English breakfast buffet at the restaurant in the morning is great.

Hotel description
Premier Inn Hotel Maidstone (Sandling) is just a stone's throw away from the centre of Maidstone, so we're very handy for business or pleasure. And, with our own lovely beer garden sitting alongside the river Medway, you'll find the time and space to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Marvel at the perfect reflection of Leeds Castle in the moat that surrounds it. Or take a trip to Chatham and see historic warships and even a submarine. Stretch your legs on the glorious Kent Downs, then return to tasty food in our Beefeater restaurant, and a lovely comfy bed in your room.
