"Don’t bank on a restful night!"
We booked this for close proximity to the Eurotunnel. I wouldn’t stay here again, especially in summer months. Our family room was ridiculously hot and there is no air con in the hotel. The windows open about 5cm so there really is no way to cool the room down. With such a bad night’s sleep, we left thinking it’s actually pretty dangerous to stay here before a long drive to France.
"A happy experience on the eve of our holiday"
Just had the best service from Cheyenne in the restaurant at the Premier inn in Folkestone. She has the loveliest personality and works efficiently and happily engaging with all her clients. A rare find in these difficult times .
"If outside temp is above 12 degrees I wouldn’t stay here"
My room at home doesn’t have air conditioning so on a fairly average evening I am not sure why our room was like an oven. Window opens 3 cm, fan provided is noisy and just blows the warm air around. The absolute basics you need from a hotel are a good nights sleep, 4 of us barely slept then had a full day of driving across France absolutely knackered. Instal aircon or sort the room design so air flows round. Appalling. Also the good night guarantee doesn’t apply if they tell you the room doesn’t have air conditioning. Like you should therefore expect to not be able to sleep.
    "Great room, but horridly hot."
A lovely room as always, brilliant breakfast, as always. A lovely clean bathroom and as we're an older couple, I requested a rubber shower mat for safety. That was forthcoming immediately. The staff were excellent, especially when I said that I'd emailed requesting a ground floor room as my husband is disabled, but that I hadn't had an answer. A room on the ground floor was instantly forthcoming with no problem and all was well. The downside, which I knew about in advance and had desperately hoped for a cool weekend, was no air-conditioning. 28.5C all night, with only a fan to waft the hot air around was most unsatisfactory and left us feeling exhausted all weekend as we barely slept. Yes, I had tried to find reasonably priced accommodation with air-con but naturally those places were already full. I feel that blocks of rooms like this should, in this day and age, have accessibility to cooler rooms. We may be heading back to Kent in November and if so, I will be booking again. I know we'll get a comfortable few nights then.
"The only good thing about this place is its close location to the Channel Tunnel"
It was only 18 degrees outside yet the whole building was so hot, it was suffocating. As a result they had left a fan in the room, and forced left the window open. The fan was so noisy that we had to turn it off. We were lulled by the sound of lorries and motorbikes instead. No one slept and we were all knackered in the morning. The TV was working intermittently. The bathroom ventilation was so loud that it was like being close to an airplane. The restaurant was very busy and staff members, despite being very friendly, looked overworked. Never again.
