"Comfortable and clean, albeit a bit stuffy."
On arriving at 2.50, the older receptionist was not a happy, cheerful, helpful self, who barked at us, saying we could not get our room until 3 pm. Obviously having a bad day! Anyway, we registered our car so it wouldn't get towed off It seems everywhere is private land, so no free parking anywhere for anyone! The hotel was good, ample tea available, and in the pub across the way, they did a really good dinner. The breakfast was not as good as we had thought it would be.
      "Premier Inn, due a facelift"
Premier Inn at Folkstone ( Channel Tunnel) is friendly hotel with the usual expectations of Premier Inns. Unfortunately, it is looking a little lacklustre and in need of an update in decor terms. Also the hotel does not have Air Conditioning, just a portable fan. Given the hotel location and our seemingly increasing hot spells, Aircon would have been nice. Also injured my thumb on a tarten style chair where a staple or two were exposed on the left chair arm ( Room 215). This was reported to reception and notes, so feel sure it will be repaired. Bakehouse + Pub was very good, food quality and value, reasonable enough. Breakfast too provided a wide and comprehensive range, wish it was Yorkshire Tea though, not PG Tips. Car Parking was easy and free to guests and had evidence of CCTV. Couple of small niggles on behalf of our friends who were on the second floor at the front of the hotel and were awoken at 2.30am with people coming in and a small group talking loudly at around 4.00am. Zircon would at least mean the window could stay closed to reduce noise levels. We would stay again as on balance, we only observed small niggles overall. Finally, a huge vote of thanks to the Cleaning Lady for handing in my wife's handbag all Intact, hope she got the reward we left her.
      "Too darned hot!"
Plus- very convenient for Eurotunnel, staff were friendly and room was clean. However, the lack of air con or an adequate fan made for a poor night's sleep. Appreciate that not all hotels have air con, but the temperature matched (or exceeded) that outside despite having no heating on. It was impossible to modulate the temperature and the addition of a noisy fan, did little but to push the warm air around. I will give feedback directly to the hotel, just be warned if you're planning to stay there during any sort of heat wave that you may not get the good night's sleep envisaged
"Not the greatest hotel in the summer but ok for a 1 nighter."
Stayed here in June 2025 for 1 night before travelling into Europe and was expecting a great nights sleep as I’ve always had in a Premier Inn. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectation. The room was the normal Premier Inn standard which I’m happy with however, on one of the hottest days of the year, the room temperature was 27 degrees and no air conditioning. There was however a fan which was blowing warm air about the room. I asked reception if a room was available with working air conditioning to be told there was no air conditioning in any of the rooms. The pub attached for food was average at best. I’d eat before arriving and then elsewhere for breakfast. There is a Tesco 2 miles away if you need fuel or to get something to eat.
      "Air conditioning needed!"
The hotel itself is fine with a comfy bed, however the rooms are very hot. The day wasn’t particularly hot but the room was showing 26 degrees all night. Couldn’t imagine going in a heatwave. Avoid if you can’t sleep in the heat!
